Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Volume Multi Balm Review: Is This Viral K-Beauty Balm Worth Buying?

PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) – what even is that?

Well, by all accounts, it’s the latest in a long line of viral skincare ingredients and claims to help your skin repair and renew. Bold claims indeed.

Like most beauty obsessives, I’d barely got my head around exosomes before TikTok moved on to PDRN – often referred to as “salmon DNA” skincare. Naturally, my curiosity got the better of me. When Medicube’s PDRN Pink Collagen Volume Multi Balm started appearing on my social feeds every five minutes, promising plumper skin, improved elasticity and a healthy glow, I had to see whether it was genuinely worth the hype or simply another fleeting beauty trend.

Part of Crave’s Viral Product Reviews series, where we test trending products so you don’t have to.

What is PDRN?

Despite its rather intimidating name, PDRN is actually a fascinating skincare ingredient. Traditionally derived from salmon DNA (although some formulations now use vegan alternatives), PDRN has long been used in regenerative medicine to support tissue repair and wound healing.

In skincare, it’s thought to help support the skin barrier, improve hydration and encourage healthier-looking skin over time. While the science is certainly promising, it’s important to keep expectations realistic. A topical balm isn’t going to replicate the results of aesthetic treatments or magically restore years of lost collagen overnight.

First Impressions

The Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Volume Multi Balm comes in a chunky twist-up stick that’s somewhere between a lip balm and a deodorant.

The soft pink balm glides smoothly across the skin, leaving behind an instantly dewy finish without any shimmer or glitter. It feels nourishing rather than greasy and gives your complexion that coveted Korean “glass skin” glow.

It’s incredibly easy to use too. There’s no need to get your hands messy – simply swipe it over the areas that need a little extra hydration.

What’s Inside?

PDRN isn’t the only star ingredient here.

The balm also contains a blend of ingredients designed to hydrate and improve the appearance of the skin, including:

  • PDRN
  • Hydrolysed collagen
  • Peptides
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Retinol
  • Vitamin E
  • Caffeine
  • Volufiline, which is often included in Korean skincare products for its potential plumping effect.

On paper, it’s an impressive list of ingredients aimed at supporting smoother, healthier-looking skin.

My Experience

I’m 46 now, and one of the biggest changes I’ve noticed over the past few years is that my skin simply doesn’t seem to hold onto moisture in the way it used to.

It’s not so much wrinkles that bother me; it’s that dehydrated, slightly tired look that seems to creep in during the day, particularly around my eyes and lips where I’m definitely starting to notice a loss of elasticity.

That’s where I’ve found myself reaching for the Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Volume Multi Balm.

Rather than applying it once and forgetting about it, I keep it in my handbag and slick it on several times throughout the day whenever my skin feels like it needs a little boost. It takes seconds to apply, there’s no mess, and it instantly makes my skin look fresher, healthier and more hydrated.

My eye area appears less crepey, my lips feel softer and my complexion takes on a lovely glow that makes me look far more awake than I probably am.

For me, that’s where this product really excels.

It isn’t about dramatic anti-ageing results. It’s about giving dehydrated skin an instant pick-me-up whenever you need it.

I don’t tend to wear makeup every day, so I’m usually applying it directly onto bare skin. Personally, I wouldn’t use this over a full face of foundation. Although some people do, I think the balm texture would disturb makeup, causing it to smudge or slide around, particularly if you’ve spent time perfecting your base.

Is It Really a Miracle Product?

Not quite.

Much like the Dr. Melaxin Calcium Balm that I reviewed previously, this is a lovely product that does exactly what I hoped it would.

It gives my skin an immediate boost of hydration, adds a healthy glow and makes everything look a little plumper and more refreshed.

But it isn’t going to erase deep wrinkles, restore lost facial volume or make you look ten years younger.

Some of the marketing surrounding products like this can set unrealistic expectations, particularly on social media where filters and clever lighting do a lot of the heavy lifting.

If you’re expecting injectable-style results from a balm stick, you’ll almost certainly be disappointed.

If you’re looking for something that keeps your skin looking hydrated throughout the day and gives you an instant glow whenever you need it, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Would I Buy It Again?

Yes.

Not because I believe it’s reversing the ageing process, but because I’ve genuinely enjoyed using it.

It’s become one of those products I instinctively reach for during the day, especially if I’m working from home, heading out for dinner or catching my reflection and thinking my skin looks a little tired.

I love the convenience of having it in my handbag, and I’ve found myself applying it multiple times a day without even thinking about it.

Sometimes that’s the sign of a genuinely useful beauty product.

Final Verdict

The Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Volume Multi Balm doesn’t perform miracles—and that’s absolutely fine.

What it does do is deliver instant hydration, a healthy glow and skin that looks fresher and more comfortable throughout the day. For anyone experiencing dehydration or noticing the first signs of reduced elasticity, it’s a lovely little product to have on hand.

Like the Dr. Melaxin Calcium Balm, it falls into the category of skincare that enhances rather than transforms.

Sometimes that’s all you really need.

If you’re buying it because TikTok has convinced you it will replace fillers, lower your expectations.

If you’re buying it because you want a convenient, handbag-friendly balm that makes your skin look healthier every time you swipe it on, I think you’ll understand why it’s become one of my everyday essentials.
