The Festive Afternoon Tea:
Since May, Langdale Chase has sold over 1,500 servings of its now iconic Swallows and Amazons Afternoon Tea. This success has inspired the team to launch a new Festive Aftenoon Tea, with the iconic Swallows and Amazons inspired tea returning in the New Year.
The Festive Afternoon Tea features seasonal delights with highlights including Turkey, Cranberry and Chestnut Stuffing and Smoked Salmon, Beetroot and Horseradish sandwiches, Free Range Mangaliza “Pigs in Blankets” and Potted Shrimps, Blade Mace, Crumpets, and delightful fancies including a Pistachio & Almond Christmas Tree, Fig and Plum Bauble, Almond and Orange Yule Log and Christmas Pudding Choux Bun. Priced at £55 per person.
Flavours of The Lakes:
For those seeking a truly immersive culinary stay experience, the Flavours of The Lakes package combines adventure with indulgence. This two-night stay includes daily breakfast with panoramic views of the lake, a fine-dining dinner in The Dining Room on the first night inspired by the Lake District, complemented by sommelier-led wine pairings. On the following day, guests can enjoy the Swallows and Amazons inspired Afternoon Tea.
A Timeless Escape:
Occupying a magical location on Windemere, Grade II Listed Langdale Chase is regarded as the best lakeside address in the Lake District National Park. Built in 1890 as a private residence, it first opened as a hotel in 1937 and today still houses many special features, including the original boathouse.
Following a year-long restoration and re-design in 2023 in partnership with heritage groups, the hotel opened as new with original features preserved and restored to their former glory. The contemporary design and interiors have been sympathetically created by Jane Goff, Director at Goff Associates Ltd, inspired by the 1920s and 1930s, the era known as being the ‘heyday’ of the Lake District.
The hotel’s Grade II listed gardens, originally designed by renowned landscape architect Thomas Mawson, are now being reimagined by designer Annie Guilfoyle, with Head Gardener Claire Farrington offering guided tours. Its west-facing lakeside garden and terrace is the only lakeside garden of its kind in the area.
The beautiful 30-room property has seven spacious suites with cosy reading nooks overlooking the lake, five dog friendly rooms, a two AA Rosettes restaurant and art deco style bar, cinema room and adventure activities including e-bike safaris, guided hiking, wild swimming, paddle boarding and more.
