I Tried Dr. Melaxin Eyephalt Retinol Eyebag Cream: Here’s My Honest Verdict

If you’ve spent any time on skincare TikTok recently, chances are you’ve come across Dr. Melaxin’s Eyephalt Retinol Eyebag Cream.

Promising to reduce the appearance of under-eye bags, smooth fine lines and leave the eye area looking firmer and more refreshed, the Korean beauty product has attracted plenty of attention online. As someone who has battled puffy eyes, bags and fine lines for years, I was naturally curious to see whether it could live up to the hype.

After putting it to the test, I think it’s important to understand exactly what this product is – and what it isn’t.

Part of Crave’s Viral Product Reviews series, where we test trending products so you don’t have to.

First Impressions

The product comes in sleek, clinical-looking packaging and feels very much like a modern K-beauty treatment rather than a traditional eye cream.

The texture is lightweight and easy to apply, and one of the brand’s key claims is that it leaves no white residue and can be worn under make-up.

For the most part, I’d agree.

Used sparingly, the product dries down well and doesn’t leave an obvious white cast beneath the eyes. However, use too much and you’ll definitely notice a residue. This became one of the key lessons I learned during testing.

Is It Really An Eye Cream?

This is where things get interesting.

Despite the name, I don’t think Eyephalt Retinol Eyebag Cream should be viewed in the same way as a traditional hydrating eye cream. Instead, I see it as more of a treatment product designed to temporarily improve the appearance of the under-eye area.

The distinction is important.

When I first received it, I assumed it would behave like most eye creams. One evening I applied it before bed over some of my usual moisturising products and left it on overnight.

The next morning wasn’t quite what I expected.

The skin beneath my eyes looked noticeably wrinkled and there was a dry residue sitting around the area. At first glance, it was slightly alarming, but after washing my face and properly cleansing the product away, the wrinkles disappeared almost immediately.

Thankfully, the issue wasn’t damage to my skin. It was simply product build-up. I’d used too much and layered it over other skincare products that clearly didn’t agree with it.

It’s worth mentioning because I suspect other users could make exactly the same mistake.

Does It Work?

The short answer is yes.

Used correctly, Dr. Melaxin Eyephalt does appear to reduce the appearance of fine lines and puffiness beneath the eyes. The effect isn’t dramatic enough to make you look like a completely different person, but there is a visible improvement.

The under-eye area appears smoother, slightly firmer and generally more polished.

What I didn’t experience was the sense that the product was progressively improving my under-eye area over time.

Many retinol-based eye products are designed to deliver cumulative benefits through consistent use. With Eyephalt, the results felt more immediate and cosmetic. It improved the appearance of my under-eye area while I was wearing it, but I didn’t notice the sort of long-term transformation that some consumers may be hoping for.

That isn’t necessarily a criticism.

In fact, I think understanding this makes it easier to appreciate what the product does well.

Who Is It Best For?

For me, this is the sort of product I’d reach for before an evening out, a special event, a family gathering or a day when I simply want to look a little more polished.

I’ve used plenty of temporary under-eye treatments over the years because my under-eye area has always been one of my biggest skincare frustrations. Puffiness, bags and fine lines seem to be permanent residents on my face, no matter how much sleep I get.

Because of that, I have fairly realistic expectations.

I wasn’t expecting Eyephalt to perform miracles, and thankfully I don’t think the brand is selling snake oil either. What it does offer is a temporary improvement that helps create a smoother, fresher appearance.

Sometimes that’s all you really want.

Would I Buy It Again?

The answer is yes.

Not because it’s a miracle worker, but because it serves a purpose.

If you’re looking for a product that can temporarily minimise the appearance of under-eye bags and fine lines before an important occasion, I think it performs reasonably well. As long as you use a light hand and don’t treat it like a heavy overnight eye cream, it can help create a more refreshed appearance.

That said, if I had to choose between this and another Dr. Melaxin eye product, I’d still pick the brand’s eye patches.

I found them easier to use, more comfortable and ultimately more effective for my particular concerns. If you’re curious about those, you can read my full review of the Dr. Melaxin Eye Patches on Crave Magazine.

Final Verdict

Dr. Melaxin Eyephalt Retinol Eyebag Cream sits somewhere between skincare and cosmetic treatment.

It’s not a miracle cure for under-eye bags, nor is it a product that will permanently erase fine lines. What it can do is temporarily improve the appearance of the under-eye area, helping you look a little fresher and more awake when it matters.

Used correctly, it delivers a subtle but noticeable improvement. Just don’t expect it to replace your regular skincare routine.
