According to a recent survey carried out by professional wedding planners hitched.co.uk, the average wedding in the UK cost £23,250 in 2024.

“We’re seeing guests arrive in full white looks, dramatic ball gowns for afternoon ceremonies, or outfits so elaborate they could easily be mistaken for the bride’s second dress,” says Postigo. “The intention isn’t malicious, but the impact on the couple can be devastating.”

With August being the most popular wedding month in England and Wales, couples usually worry that summer nuptials will cost a fortune – especially when time is running short.
