With searches for ‘boosting immunity’ hitting an all-time high during the peaks of the pandemic, people are turning to the healing powers of natural remedies more than ever before. With just 20 minutes a day spent in nature proven to lower stress hormone levels* and holistic spa treatments unblocking unwanted channels of energy, natural therapies can supercharge immunity and positively benefit health.
Drawing on inspiration from earth’s natural healing properties and mineral waters, Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa is the ultimate wellness retreat for restoring the mind, body and spirit. Hidden away in the Lake District, which is one of the UK’s least polluted areas, the spa offerings and experiences here have long been strengthening guests’ immunity and building up the body’s defence mechanisms.

As we enter this new normal, we could all use an extra immunity kick, especially with the colder months edging closer. So, to jumpstart their post-pandemic wellness journey, people can try one of these three experiences at Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa:
For the Outdoor Enthusiast: Forest Bathing
With Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa set within 400 acres of private, the Two Night Forest Bathing Spa Package encourages people to slow down, reconnect with the outdoors and soak up nature’s sensory elements.
Featuring a ‘nature reset’ walk by an accredited Forest Bathing guide, guests can totally relax knowing the clean, crisp air will improve their immunity, encourage a deeper sleep and boost energy levels. Forest bathing has also been proven to lower blood pressure, pulse rate and levels of cortisol*. Encouraging emotional regulation, guests will also experience a private ancient Pranayama breathwork session which works to release supressed emotions and instead tigger a flood of happy hormones. Feeling their worries drift away, this retreat also includes a 55-minute Temple Spa full body massage which calms frazzled nerves, winds down an active mind and relieves tension in the body built up by stress.
This package starts from £660 per room based on two people sharing (including breakfast, one dinner, a two-course spa lunch and full use of the spa facilities).

For Water Explorers: Wild Swimming
Addressing the demand for a more intimate connection with nature and its healing water sources, Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa recently launched their bespoke Wild Swimming & Waterfalls package. Cold water swimming increases white blood cell count which boosts immunity and releases antioxidants to defend body cells*. Nestled adjacent to the majestic falls of the Lake District, this exhilarating outdoor experience promises to do just that and more. Under the careful guidance of wild swimming coach Ali Phillips, guests can spend a half day hopping across the area’s beautiful water features including the silky smooth Bassenthwaite Lake, the hidden Gin Pool, a natural infinity pool with beautiful views and a string of spectacular waterfalls in Buttermere. With cold water therapy balancing hormones and building mental resilience, guests are sure to return to the warm spa feeling ultra-energised, reset and completely at peace.
This experience includes a short introduction to open and cold-water swimming including safety requirements. Guests will be given the option of wet suits and provided with warming drinks and rejuvenating snacks after each session.
The Wild Swimming package starts from £90 per person (minimum of two people participating) and from £320 per room based on two people sharing (including the experience, breakfast, lunch and dinner).

For Ultimate Relaxation: Hit the Spa

People don’t have to step outside of their comfort zone with forest bathing or wild swimming to boost their immunity. Sitting back, relaxing and indulging in a holistic spa treatment could be just the reboot their body needs, and Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa has a plethora of facials and massages that will do the trick. ‘Go Figure’ is a firming, toning and tightening body detox treatment targeting the hips, thighs and abs, all of which can store negative energy and emotions. If a mud wrap is more eye-catching, the skin conditioning ‘Glorious Mud’ uses warm vitamin and mineral rich mud to detoxify the body, face and scalp. Or, for a skin boosting facial, the ‘Mediterranean Marinade’ calms the effects of delicate and stressed skin with a cooling mask and face massage.
Spa treatments start from £80 per person.
