Tired Brits in need of a serious recharge can now book a new wellness escape to Iceland — designed specifically to help you drift off into deep, restorative sleep.
Launched this week by travel specialists Conscious Travel, the Recharge Retreat offers a calming blend of fresh, locally sourced food, expert-led workshops, and wellness activities — all aimed at easing stress, recalibrating the mind, and helping guests achieve high-quality sleep.
Set in Iceland’s tranquil Golden Circle region, guests will spend three nights at the luxury Hotel Grimsborgir, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and silence you can almost hear.
According to recent studies, the UK is facing a growing ‘sleep crisis’, with work-life pressures leaving people more exhausted than ever. In response, the travel industry is seeing a surge in sleep-focused escapes — with packages that prioritise both physical and mental wellbeing.
Sleep expert Greg Potter explains:
“Getting enough, well-timed, high-quality sleep is rarely the result of one quick fix. It usually comes from a combination of factors — staying active, managing stress, and creating the right environment for rest.
It’s exciting to see a trip that not only offers that experience but gives people tools they can take home too.”
From the moment guests arrive, everything is designed to soothe. Think: relaxing loungewear, custom aromatherapy blends, and a guide to the retreat’s signature “Sleep Journey”.
Over the four-day experience, guests can expect a curated programme of muscle relaxation, yoga, mindful journaling, one-to-one chats with a sleep expert, thermal bathing, massages, and nourishing meals made from sleep-supporting ingredients. Herbal teas replace coffee, and alarms are strictly off-limits — so you can wake up when your body’s ready.
“This experience is all about pressing reset,” says Nathan Stubbs, founder of Conscious Travel.
“We’re seeing more and more people asking for holidays that help them sleep better and feel more grounded.
This retreat combines the peace of Iceland’s natural surroundings with science-backed wellness. From nutrition to analysing smartwatch sleep data, every detail is personalised to ensure each guest gets what they need.”
The Recharge Retreat runs from October to November, starting from £2,000 per person (based on 8 people travelling, full board, excluding flights). The package includes transfers, three nights at Hotel Grimsborgir, a tailored menu, expert-led workshops in nutrition and mindfulness, guided walks, access to Icelandic hot tubs, and the option to add a visit to a local thermal bath.
