My Honest Review of the Dr Melaxin Cactox Cooling V-Up Mask After Two Months
If you’ve spent any time on TikTok recently, you’ve probably seen it.
A beautiful influencer with a razor-sharp jawline appears on your screen wearing what looks suspiciously like a neon green chin sling attached to her ears. Thirty minutes later, she’s claiming her face is visibly slimmer, more sculpted and somehow transformed.
The product behind the trend is the Dr Melaxin Cactox Cooling V-Up Mask, a Korean beauty treatment that promises to de-puff, contour and lift the lower face.
As someone whose jawline has always been my Achilles’ heel, I was intrigued. If Dr Melaxin was offering a solution that didn’t involve surgery, injectables or surviving solely on celery sticks, I was willing to give it a go.
But after using these masks twice a week for a couple of months, do they actually work?
First Impressions
The packaging certainly looks impressive.
Dr Melaxin has built a reputation for creating highly marketable skincare products, and the Cactox Cooling V-Up Mask is no exception. Everything about the branding suggests cutting-edge Korean beauty technology.
The mask contains the brand’s proprietary Cactox Elixir™ alongside Aquaslim EX, ingredients designed to hydrate the skin while helping reduce the appearance of puffiness.
The treatment itself is unlike a traditional sheet mask. Instead of covering your entire face, it wraps tightly around the chin, jaw and lower cheeks before hooking around your ears.
And yes, it looks every bit as ridiculous as it sounds.
There is no glamorous way to sit in your living room wearing what can only be described as a fluorescent green face hammock.
What’s It Actually Like To Wear?
The first thing you’ll notice is the cooling sensation.
The mask feels genuinely refreshing when applied, particularly if you’ve stored it in the fridge beforehand. The hydrogel material is saturated with serum and provides an immediate cooling effect that feels pleasant on tired or puffy skin.
The second thing you’ll notice is how tight it is.
The lifting sensation comes largely from physical tension. Once attached behind the ears, the mask pulls upwards against the jawline, creating constant compression across the lower face.
This is where the product becomes a little less enjoyable.
While the cooling ingredients feel lovely, the ear loops can become uncomfortable after a while. I found myself becoming increasingly aware of the pressure around my ears as the treatment went on.
It’s not painful, but it’s certainly not the relaxing spa experience the marketing videos suggest.
The Ingredients
One thing I will give Dr Melaxin credit for is that the formula contains some genuinely beneficial skincare ingredients.
The mask includes:

- Hydrating agents designed to improve moisture retention
- Cooling ingredients that help soothe the skin
- Skin-conditioning ingredients intended to temporarily improve elasticity
These ingredients can certainly help hydrate and refresh the skin.
What they can’t do is permanently alter your facial structure.
And that’s where I think many consumers get carried away.
Does It Actually Lift Your Jawline?
This is the million-pound question.
The honest answer is yes and no.
Immediately after removing the mask, my jawline often appeared slightly more defined.
However, I strongly suspect this is largely due to temporary compression and reduced puffiness rather than any genuine contouring effect.
Think of it like wearing compression socks. They can temporarily reduce swelling and make your legs look more streamlined, but they don’t permanently change their shape.
The same principle applies here.
If you’ve had a salty meal, a bad night’s sleep or you’re naturally prone to facial puffiness, you may notice a visible difference immediately after use.
If you’re hoping for a permanent snatched jawline, you’re likely to be disappointed.
The Problem With TikTok Beauty
One of my biggest frustrations with products like this isn’t necessarily the product itself.
It’s the marketing.
Social media has become obsessed with convincing people that long-standing aesthetic concerns can be solved with a £20 mask, a serum or a trending gadget.
The reality is that issues like loose skin, jowls and significant loss of facial definition are complex concerns influenced by age, genetics, weight fluctuations and skin elasticity.
No sheet mask is going to recreate the results of surgery.
That’s not a criticism of Dr Melaxin specifically. It’s simply a reminder that skincare products can improve the appearance of skin, but they can’t perform miracles.
My Verdict
I’ve used plenty of Dr Melaxin products over the years and, honestly, most of them are perfectly nice.
The Cactox Cooling V-Up Mask falls into the same category.
It’s refreshing.
It’s cooling.
It temporarily reduces puffiness.
It gives a mild tightening effect.
And it feels like you’re doing something productive for your skin.
What it doesn’t do is deliver the dramatic facial transformation seen across TikTok.
For me, this is a pleasant de-puffing treatment rather than a revolutionary beauty breakthrough.
Would I buy it again?
Possibly.
Would I buy it expecting a brand-new jawline?
Absolutely not.

If you’re expecting it to replace weight loss, genetics or cosmetic procedures, save your money.
Sometimes the most viral beauty products are simply the best marketed ones.
