As we step into 2025, a wave of fresh trends is redefining the way we express ourselves, both personally and within our living spaces.
Whether you’re looking to revamp your look, elevate your beauty routine, or refresh your home, these trends are set to inspire and shape the year’s aesthetic landscape.
From interiors to hairstyles, Nick Drewe, trend expert and founder of e-commerce platform, Wethrift, has compiled a list of the top beauty and design trends that will make their move across the board in 2025.
Mocha Mousse
Announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse is a rich, warm shade that blends soft brown and creamy beige tones. Predicted to become a standout colour in 2025, it will be ideal for both fashion and interior design trends.
For home decor, Mocha Mousse will dominate as a go-to neutral, pairing effortlessly with earthy greens and soft whites, both two shades that have dominated interior design this year.
Similarly, with fashion trends in 2025, this shade of colour will be everywhere, from textured fabrics like knits, suede, and leather to offering a timeless alternative to traditional neutrals. This is already being demonstrated by the queen of trends herself, Hailey Bieber, as she recently promoted a new Rhode lip tint shade in ‘cinnamon’ whilst sporting a monochromatic Mocha Mousse outfit.
Plaid
This winter, we have already seen a resurgence of plaid. Heritage tweeds and checked prints have dominated runways this season, as we tap into the British countryside core. In the New Year, to channel this trend and your inner Vivian Westwood, opt for an oversized checked coat over a stylish knitted dress with knee-high boots.
Other elements of plaid we know will dominate the start of 2025 include plaid skirts, made popular through brands like Damson Madder.
You can also hop on this trend by switching up your home decor. Plaid and gingham are set to take over interior accessories and design next year. From ottomans to bedding, blinds to upholstered armchairs, there are many ways you can introduce plaid into your home.
Masculine Archetypes
In fashion, we can expect to see more masculine archetypes making their way to the forefront of trends. A return to sharp tailoring with double-breasted suits, wide-leg trousers, and trench coats offers a refined approach to masculine styling. Made popular recently by supermodel Bella Hadid, this style of dressing has reinterpreted classic male archetypes for a modern audience.
The sporty side of this archetype will influence casual wear with bomber jackets, straight-legged joggers, and monochrome trainers.
Princess Updo’s
Moving away from fashion and interior, a huge trend in hair and beauty this year will be the Princess Updo. Made infamous by Pamela Anderson in the 90s, it’s finally making a grand comeback, offering a sophisticated yet approachable look for everything from formal events to everyday glamour.
Key elements of the Princess Updo include a soft, voluminous bun and face-framing tendrils of hair. Whether styled high for a dramatic effect or for a low effortless look, Princess Updos will be the perfect go-to hairstyle for 2025.
A Focus on Comfort
As we move into 2025, comfort is becoming the defining element of both fashion and interior design, reflecting a cultural shift toward prioritising well-being without having to sacrifice style.
This year, we waved goodbye to overhead lighting and instead, placed more of an emphasis on creating a chill and comfortable environment through lamps that transform a space. Soft, oversized sofas, warm lighting, and tactile fabrics such as velvet and linen, will be a big focus for interiors in 2025. Multifunctional furniture that adapts to different needs, like comfy lounge chairs that double as reading nooks or beds with built-in storage, is also key to this trend.
The aim will be to create spaces where relaxation is the priority.
Similarly, with fashion, there will be a move away from restrictive styles in favour of clothing that feels as good as it looks; think flowy dresses, relaxed trousers, and soft, breathable materials like organic cotton, wool and cashmere.
