Research from Aperol has revealed that 80% of Brits are planning to spend more time at home this summer, with a third (33%) of people across the UK cancelling their planned summer holiday abroad this year – Italy being the third most popular holiday destination, following Spain and Greece – leading to a rise in staycations and ‘at home’ breaks.
Rather than letting the circumstances get them down, 30% of those surveyed – over half (52%) from London – are planning to commemorate their missed holiday at home; and Aperol’s merchandise will add the perfect touch to alternative alfresco celebrations.
What’s more, nearly a third (29%) said that the Aperitivo Hour is a key part of their holiday, with more than one in ten (13%) choosing to serve up Aperol Spritz when entertaining at home. As a result, the summer months will likely see plenty of Brits knocking up a refreshing Aperol Spritz to enjoy at socially-distanced gatherings in their spruced-up gardens.
