Transitional skincare we love from our favourite experts

With overindulging during the lockdown, the surge in “maskne” and adding further the transition into Summer, it’s important to have a plan of action to keep your skin glowing and healthy in these warmers months.

Dealing with thousands of clinics and beauty shops across the UK and internationally Jenna Unwin of Million Dollar Facial says: “People have taken the opportunity to indulge over the lockdown, spending a lot more time at home, binging on boxsets, sweet treats and alcohol a little more than usual. As we head into summer and now salons are scheduled to open again, it’s worth seeking professional advice and treatment to start working on your skin from the outside in.”

The Million Dollar Facial treatment is designed to deeply exfoliate dead skin cells and remove non-terminal hair, polish the skin, flush toxins, increase and stimulate our natural collagen and cell turnover.

Transitional skincare – Exfoliate weekly

In the summer your skin is prone to sweating which creates more oil and with the buildup of dead skin cells, this can make your skin look dull and can cause breakouts and blemishes. Combat congested skin by exfoliating once to twice a week, this helps remove these dead skin cells to reveal a glowing complexion. At Million Dollar Facial we recommend using glycolic, lactic or salicylic acids to gently exfoliate the top layer of skin.

Transitional skincare – Wear SPF

The sun is one of the biggest aggressors to our skin and causes damage even when we can’t see the evidence. Although SPF should be worn daily, all year round it’s extra important to be sun-safe during the warmer months and wear sunscreen with both high factors (SPF50) UVB protection and UVA protection. Wearing SPF protects your skin from premature ageing, fine lines, wrinkles, blotchiness and age spots.

Transitional skincare – Don’t stop moisturising

During the winter months as the weather is colder and the temperatures are higher in our homes, our skin can become drier meaning we might turn to richer moisturisers. Summer months are warmer and you sweat more however you still need to moisturise. Think about switching to a lighter moisturiser, a more lightweight texture can keep your skin feeling nourished and hydrated without feeling too heavy in the heat

Transitional skincare – Keep hydrated

It’s important to keep ourselves hydrated during Summer by drinking water, this not only benefits our bodies but our skin. At Million Dollar Facial, we’re huge fans of hyaluronic acid – found naturally in skin, hyaluronic acid can hold a thousand times its weight in water and helps to keep the skin hydrated, dewy and plump. Whether you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, use hyaluronic acid followed by a moisturiser to help lock in that moisture.

Transitional skincare – Continue to use Vitamin C

The summer glow is real and unlike vitamin A-derived retinol, Vitamin C is safe to wear during the day and in sunlight (alongside SPF of course). Vitamin C helps prevent fine lines and protects your skin from sun damage. Million Dollar Superfacial Vit C10 is a powerful antioxidant containing L-ascorbic acid at 10%, which has been clinically proven to help clear free radicals caused by ageing, lifestyle and pollution.
