The new spring afternoon tea menu at The White Lion Hotel on Aldeburgh’s seafront has a chocolate focus to tantalise your tastebuds ready for the Easter break.
The quintessentially English experience begins with a selection of homemade finger sandwiches with a twist including smoked salmon with avocado, maple ham with a spicy chilli mayonnaise and cucumber with tahini mayonnaise as well as a savoury feta and red pepper sausage roll.
Chocolate features in the tempting sweet treats, starting with a hot chocolate scone with clotted cream and Tiptree morello cherry jam. Continuing the chocolate theme, there’s also a chocolate brownie with mocha Chantilly cream, rum crémeux and chocolate and orange madeleine.
Afternoon tea is available daily in The Brasserie from 12pm until 4pm Monday to Friday and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Sundays, priced at £18.50 per person accompanied by a choice of English Breakfast, peppermint, green and decaffeinated tea or cafetière coffee.
Taking the chocolatey focus to the next level you can add The White Lion’s deluxe hot chocolate with cream and chocolate shavings for £4 per person or indulge in the adults only deluxe Irish cream hot chocolate for £6.50.
Afternoon tea at The White Lion must be booked at least 24 hours in advance either online at www.whitelion.co.uk/dine/afternoon-tea or by calling 01728 452720. A £10 per person deposit is required to secure the reservation. Gluten or dairy free and vegan options are also available, please advise any dietary requirements when booking.
A traditional cream tea with plain or fruit scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam with tea or coffee can also be enjoyed daily between 12pm and 5pm for just £7.50 per person without advance booking.
