There’s a fabulous new must-visit destination in London’s Battersea. The iconic Battersea Power Station which has always dominated the skyline south of the river has now been beautifully restored and is home to an impressive selection of designer shops, bars, restaurants and now Arcade Battersea.
Now open, Arcade is located on the first floor in the heart of the building. It’s an expansive space with seating for 500 people and a wide range of food stalls to choose from. These include new concepts that are exclusive to Arcade – Flat Bread by Thomas Straker, Siu Siu – Cantonese comfort food inspired by roast meat shops in Hong Kong and Phed Power, serving the fiery food of Issan, Thailand.
There’s also fabulous sushi and other Japanese dishes at Sushi Kamon; Indonesian street food from Bebek! Bebek!; Middle Eastern mezze and shawarma at Shatta & Toum; Nepali street food at Tipan Tapan; North Indian fast food from Hero and Tacos and guacamole from Mexa. The choice is mind-boggling and you can travel the world without leaving the comfort of your seat. Arcade’s direct-to-table ordering system means you don’t need to queue but can wait for your order at your table enjoying a drink from one of the two bars.
The Tap Room boasts an impressive 32 tap beverages with beers encompassing well-known international breweries and the best of UK craft beer. There’s even a changing list of local beers sourced within five miles of Battersea Power Station. A great way to support your local businesses. ABC Bar takes its name from the American Bar Cocktail Book with a fabulous selection of cocktails that can be enjoyed from brunch onwards.
Arcade brings something different to south-west London’s foodie landscape and the reinvented Battersea Power Station is truly magnificent to behold. The interior design takes inspiration from the two eras the Power Station was built in, merging the glamour of the 1920s with the Brutalist 1950s style. It’s vast and elegant and cleverly conceived of with sustainability at the forefront and featuring many reclaimed items from the original power station, like light fittings and the reused magnificent oak timber flooring.
