Singapulah’s menu, bar and interior design bring the multicultural melting pot of flavours – both exotic and familiar – found in Singapore.
Already a popular site on Shaftesbury Avenue, Singapulah promises to once again transport guests to the little red dot – recreating the sights, sounds and aromas of Singapore’s vibrant street food culture – through all its new products.
THE FOOD
Singapulah’s menu is crafted in collaboration with Singaporean food manufacturers to showcase a plethora of flavours and ingredients from the island state. These include:
Hokkien Mee: The real Singapore noodles! Noodles from Kang Kang are braised in a wok with pork belly, prawn broth and Asian aromatics, served semi-dry and topped with tiger prawns.
Singapore Loaded Rojak: An explosion of flavours, this tangy sweet, savoury and mildly spiced Southeast Asian tossed salad will feature Prima Taste’s shrimp and peanut rojak sauce and fried dough fritters from You Tiao Man.
Ang Kar Prawn Noodle Soup: A rich noodle broth made from ocean-caught reg leg prawns is served with tender pork ribs, king prawns and sliced fishcake from BoBo.
Bao Ka Liao Claypot Bak Kut Teh: Classic Singaporean-style pork rib soup is given a makeover with pork belly and ribs wok-tossed in Chee Seng’s sesame oil and served in a claypot, while the traditional peppery pork broth from Tai Hua is served separately.
Kaya Ice Cream Toast: Creamier’s pandan coconut ice cream is served alongside buttered toast soldiers, reminiscent of Singapore’s popular coffee shop breakfast staple.
Singapore Kopi: Arabica and Robusta coffee beans are roasted in sugar and margarine to create Singapore’s signature coffee from Coffee Hock, served with evaporated and condensed milk.
Singapulah is Ellen Chew’s full circle project, the restaurateur and entrepreneur who brought London Rasa Sayang, Shan Shui Restaurant, Mrs Chew’s Chinese Kitchen, and Lobos.
Ellen explains: “I opened Singapulah in February of this year to be a vibrant celebration of the finest Singaporean cuisine, culture, and design in the heart of London. What sets Singapulah apart is the authenticity; the ingredients, the brands, the decor, and the methods of cooking all bring the essence of Singapore to London.
Speaking with our guests since we launched, we received many requests for other classic Singaporean dishes, like Peranakan Assam Fish, Mee Rebus and Hainanese Pork Chop. With this new menu, we hope to satiate the appetite of London diners for authentic Singaporean flavours. I’m thrilled to be introducing even more new products to the market in the UK and being able to showcase these brands, which I hold dear to me, and serving these on the menu at Singapulah is such a privilege”.
Singapulah is supported by Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore government agency championing enterprise development, and the Singapore Brand Office, with promotional support from Singapore Tourism Board and Singapore Global Network.
