When you think holiday, what is it you seek? For me, it’s a relaxing and free-flow break, and every holiday I embark on I have exactly that at the forefront of my mind. I know so many people that have visited Scotland and I have always heard great stories. Even stories of drizzly weather and tremendous trips! It has always been a place on my bucket list, I just needed an excuse to go!
Scotland is a place of sweeping natural landscapes, stunning lochs, diverse cities and rich cultural heritage! Even driving there is a pretty picture! So when I had the opportunity to visit Rosneath Castle Park, I jumped at the chance…
The sun was shining as I was driving along winding roads to reach Rosneath and as we turned left where signposted we head down a long road lined with beautiful greenery, before arriving at reception for a seamless check in. We were handed a welcome pack, to include our keys, a map of the park and a “what’s on this week” flyer at the kids clubs & entertainment.
Our accommodation was pretty close to the amenities, so it took no time to locate our home for the weekend.
Accommodation
We were staying in a spacious two-bed static caravan with views of the loch.
The exterior of the caravan has a designated parking spot – so no lugging your suitcase from across the park! And ample green space, perfect for games, gatherings and al fresco dining.
Our accommodation was clean, bright and superbly situated! As we step inside we enter the open plan kitchen diner area featuring a dining table, comfortably seating four and all the essential cooking necessities, such as a sparkling oven, tall standing fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. A little gift of milk, coffee, tea and sugar was neatly presented alongside the kettle.
The living space is generously sized and neutrally decorated exuding a modern feel. The living room features a large corner sofa with pull-out bed, television and electric fire. An inviting space with double doors and a balustrade. Perfect for allowing some breeze without any little ones escaping!
Through the hall and first on left is the master bedroom boasting a king-size bed with crisp white sheets and modern pendant side lights, a dressing table and mirror for convenience, together with en suite toilet. The second bedroom featured two single comfy and well-sized beds with a wardrobe and mirror.
Finally, the main bathroom is at the rear of the caravan, presenting a pristine and roomy power shower and heated radiator.
I love a static caravan holiday, it’s ideal for several reasons, for myself, it’s in keeping with my free-flow wants with having your own space, perfect for home comforts and a place for the children to call home.
I have stayed in many statics and this caravan is top-notch!

The food here was really very tasty, the ingredients were fresh and the portion sizes generous. The service was fantastic and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating
Local area
The local area has plenty to discover, from the two surrounding villages and connecting town.
During our stay, we headed into Rosneath and enjoyed a Woodland nature trail which led to a secluded pebbled beach, where we simply lost hours taking in the Scottish beauty. Before heading back we nipped in the local shop in the village and grabbed a disposable BBQ for some al fresco dining at our caravan!
Over the weekend we ventured further into Kilcreggan. Kilcreggan is the village along from Rosneath and has a great pub, butchers and cafe for anyone wanting a quiet bite to eat or a pleasant stroll. It is a picturesque day out by the rocky pier with ferry connections to Gourock town. Gourock boasts ice cream parlours, traditional shops and open-air waterfront swimming pool making it a popular day-trip destination for any explorers.
Both villages are entirely walkable, but put on your comfy shoes…
Conclusion
Overall, my opinion of Scotland is a good one! I like a sunshine holiday as much as the next person, but Scotland offers something more than sea and sand. Scotland really is as desirable as I imagined. Pebble beaches and Lochs are at almost every turn and there is something about it that instantly grounds and relaxes me. I think this only adds to why it’s so stunning – it’s a real tranquil place.
