These Are Italy’s Most Romantic Honeymoon Destinations for Newlyweds

Global travel booking site Omio has put together a list of the 10 most luxurious Honeymoon destinations in Italy, looking at the number of 5* hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants in each location – and some of the results may surprise you.

Italian cities came out on top as the most romantic honeymoon destinations

Rome and Florence came out on top, thanks to their mix of 5-star hotels and Michelin-starred restaurants.

Rome has a whopping 400 5-star hotels and 20 Michelin-starred restaurants, so you can relax and enjoy each other’s company after a day exploring the historic streets of Vatican City, then feast on your choice of fine dining establishments. According to Omio’s research, the most romantic hotels in Rome include Hotel Artemide, which offers a romantic honeymoon suite, and Donna Camilla Savelli, which is tucked away in the trendy Trastevere area. With romantic rooms and their own private gardens, it’s a perfect place to honeymoon.

In second place is the wildly romantic Florence, offering 361 5-star hotels, 8 Michelin-starred restaurants and some of the most breathtaking art galleries in the world. Perfect for newlyweds, you can enjoy wine and spritzes from the city’s famous wine windows, or spend hours in awe of Michelangelo’s creations. In terms of where to stay, Hotel Calimala Florence has gorgeous rooms and a roof terrace that overlooks the historic city.

Venice comes in at third place with 185 five-star hotels and 7 Michelin-starred restaurants. Home to scenic gondola rides, canals and bridges, Venice offers a classic taste of romance that’s unique to Italy.

In fourth place is Verona, with 400 five-star hotels and 3 Michelin-starred restaurants.  It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is best known as the home of Romeo and Juliet.  The city is a great place to soak up the culture, eat delicious food and then rest your feet in some of the most romantic hotels in the world. Corte San Mattia – Agriturismo Verona, a farmhouse a five-minute drive from Verona’s old town, is home to charming rooms, a swimming pool and a wine tasting tour, the perfect combination for a honeymoon.

Turin is an underrated honeymoon destination, according to data

Beautiful, but often overlooked for the likes of Rome and Florence, Turin offers a mix of culture and luxury that’s ideal for a honeymoon with fewer crowds. With 136 five-star hotels and 8 Michelin-starred restaurants to choose from, it has everything you need for a romantic – and high-end – week away.

For those who love the beach, Italy also has some great spots for romance, sun and sea

Sorrento, located near Italy’s famous Amalfi Coast, is a lavish spot to honeymoon, thanks to its 254 5-star hotels, 3 Michelin-starred restaurants and picturesque lemon groves. Catch a boat to the nearby Amalfi Coast and enjoy swimming in crystal-clear caves, then stop to sample some local Italian cuisine. Where to stay? Grand Hotel De La Ville Sorrento has everything you need for a romantic stay, from a pool and a spa to breathtaking mountain views.

Sicily’s famous Taormina also makes the list of the most luxurious spots to honeymoon in Italy, with 133 5-star hotels and 5 Michelin-starred restaurants, ideal for those looking for a White Lotus-inspired getaway. Visit the famous Greek Theatre and sunbathe on the beautiful Isola Bella. There are many gorgeous hotels to stay in, but according to one review, Hotel Villa Paradiso is “wonderfully located with a view of Mount Etna and a few steps from the main street. We had the room on the top floor (the 5th with bathtub), and we were surprised to be able to open the roof to take a romantic bath under the stars”
