Montezuma’s: We dive into the best of the trailblazing chocolate brand

Thursday 17th Aug 2023 |

If you’re something of a chocolate connoisseur, there’s a good chance you’ll have already heard of Montezuma’s. Born way back in 2000 after the founders fell in love with chocolate on a trip to South America, the brand has gone on to become an industry trailblazer for quality, fair trade and taste innovation.

As a brand that never stands still, Montezuma’s is constantly evolving and putting out irresistible new flavours that are hard to resist. Here are some of our favourites.

Giant Milk Chocolate Buttons

You often hear chocolate described as rich, but it doesn’t get much richer than these 37% cocoa discs of pleasure. As someone who usually canes sweet treats within days of purchase, I was pleasantly surprised to see these buttons lasting a week in the fridge. Quality over quantity, these really are the best.

The Grand Truffle Collection

Taking its name from the home of the very first Montezuma’s store, which also happens to be the iconic hotel of the same name on Brighton’s seafront, this truffle collection is the business. Featuring such delights as salted dulce de leche caramel, sweet white chocolate and classic dark chocolate, it makes for a perfect gifting option.

Sea Dog Lime & Sea Salt

Who’d have thought that the combination of dark chocolate, lime and sea salt could be such a revelation? The salty tang of this ingenious creation is second to none and comes highly recommended to anyone that likes their sweet treats a little bit fruity.

Orangutang Orange & Butterscotch

White chocolate might not be for everyone, but as someone who finds it hard to turn down, I appreciate the orange zest and crunchy butterscotch goodness of Orangutang. Sure to become a future classic.

Spice It Up Fiery Ginger

If you like a bit of fire in your belly, then the ginger-infused Spice It Up is a must. Ginger and dark chocolate go together exceptionally well, and this is one of the best versions you’ll find. Essential for chocoholics.

Purchase directly from Montezuma online or at Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and John Lewis.
