MELITTA-AROMAFRESH-REVIEW

Melitta Aromafresh II Review: A Fine Feature Packed Bean-to-Jug Coffee Machine

Tuesday 22nd Aug 2023 |

With well over 100 years in the business, German brand Melitta has garnered a stellar reputation for producing affordable filter coffee machines that are both durable and easy to use. The Aromafresh II is the latest model in their bean-to-jug filter coffee machine range and has garnered some rave reviews since launching a few months back.

The marketing blurb from Melitta promises a family-friendly machine that’s both easy to use and packed with handy features to make life easier. After testing the machine out for a week, It’s safe to say Melitta has delivered a solid upgrade from the previous model.

As a self-confessed caffeine addict, I’d been toying with the idea of investing in a filter coffee machine ever since I became hooked on my dad’s barista-style model and the Armoafresh has so far been equally as impressive. So, let’s dive into the finer details.

Aromafresh II: Features

Melitta has loaded the Aromafresh II with notable features, whilst also making it simple enough for technophobes to operate. As someone with little patience reading through extensive instruction manuals, I was impressed at how quick it was to set-up and enjoy my first cup of Hot Lava Java from Taylors of Harrogate.

After switching the machine on for the first time, the clock is easy to set, as is the timer to enjoy that all-important early morning brew. If like me, you can’t start your day without at least one cup of coffee, this feature is a game-changer. The hot plate can be kept on for 20, 40 or 60 minutes to keep your coffee hot.

The 3-in-1 limescale protection feature is also welcome, and comes with programmable water hardness, limescale indicator and automatic descaling program.

To prolong the life of your machine, it’s well worth investing in a water filter, especially if you live in an area with particularly hard water. I can highly recommend the Zero Water, which comes with a digital TDS to test the hardness level of your water. It took my tap water from 140 down to zero, making it as pure as any bottled water on the market.

The Integrated ceramic grinder comes with 11 different settings, and there are three different brewing strengths, giving you the chance to finesse your ideal brew. You can also switch the bean grinder off should you wish to use pre-ground coffee.

Aromafresh II: Design

Whilst the Aromafresh II can’t compete with the likes of Sage or DeLonghi in terms of ultra-modern aesthetics, the sleek matt black design is stylish in its own right and fits in well with the rest of my kitchen appliances.

Standing at a lofty 463 mm in height, however, just make sure it’s not too tall to squeeze into your kitchen.

Final verdict

The Aromafresh II is an excellent option for coffee-lovers that are looking for a fast and efficient coffee machine that’s simple to use and packed with features you’ll actually use. The timer is a stand-out, filling your kitchen with the kind of fresh aroma that makes getting up early worth it.

A smart choice for families or households that go through a lot of coffee, the Aromafresh makes for an ideal gift to either yourself or a loved one. A strong recommendation.
