With just over two weeks to go until the release of the highly anticipated move musical Wicked, experts from luxury bed retailer, Comodo Living have finally settled the debate. Pink or green – which is best?
According to new data collected by Comodo Living, green bedrooms are the most popular choice. Using online search volumes, green bedrooms are flying ahead of pink in the popularity race.
With 9,000 monthly searches in the UK for green bedroom related terms Elphaba’s signature hue trumps its pink counterpart which receives on average 7,000 online searches every month.
Data also reveals a huge increase in online searches of more than 5,000% for Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke while ‘emerald green paint’ has seen an increase of 110% in the past 30 days as Wicked fever ramps up.
But which colour is better for winding down? It turns out the most popular choice may also be wickedly good for your sleep!
Alex Francis, Head of Operations at Comodo Living reveals there has been a big step towards incorporating green into the bedroom:
“From calming sage green to on-trend pistachio, green has really been a colour widely embraced in homes and bedrooms for the last few years. Depending on how bold you want to go you can choose dark green to create a dramatic and moody roomscape or choose a lighter more neutral shade for a calming vibe.”
Here are Alex’s expert tips on how to bring this soothing colour into your bedroom to enhance your space for relaxation and better sleep:
Opt for Soft, Earthy Tones
Choosing softer shades like sage, olive, or pistachio green can introduce a sense of tranquillity to the room, without overwhelming the space. These tones work really well if you choose to colour drench the space, creating a neutral and relaxing backdrop that doesn’t distract when it’s time to wind down.
Add Green Through Textiles
For a simpler touch, incorporate green in your bedding, curtains, or cushions. Airy sage curtains or a plush olive green upholstered bed or headboard can add dimension without requiring a full paint job. Layering in green through fabrics allows you to embrace the calming colour with flexibility. This way you can even bring in some pink too with earthy pink tones on the walls or floors.
Bring in Natural Elements
Add plants or botanical prints to bring the outdoors in. The presence of real plants helps to release oxygen in the room and support air quality at night. “If you don’t have much of a green thumb even bringing in floral or botanical motifs can help to emulate the biophilic effect that helps with relaxation,” Alex notes. Plants like snake plants and lavender are ideal choices, as they’re easy to care for, can enhance indoor air quality and lavender’s calming scent is ideal for unwinding.
Experiment with Accents and Accessories
For a low-commitment approach, consider adding subtle green accents. Low cost options like wall prints, lamps and candles can help to refresh your space and bring in a hint of nature-inspired calm.
