M&S has unveiled its highly anticipated festive food collection, and foodies across the UK are buzzing.
Among the highlights is the Charcuterie Christmas Tree kit, containing hams, cheeses, and everything else you need to create a stunning (and delicious) table centrepiece.
While definitely tempting, the £25 price tag might make this holiday treat out of reach for many families.
Thankfully, bargain expert Nick Drewe, founder of the discount platform Wethrift, has shared a clever way to replicate this festive showstopper at home for less than half the price.
You will need:
- A variety of cured meats, cheeses, and olives
- Fresh fruit and vegetables (e.g., strawberries, cherry tomatoes)
- Cocktail sticks or skewers
- A foam styrofoam cone
- Cling film
- Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme)
Instructions:
Prepare the base:
Wrap the foam cone in cling film to protect it and provide a clean surface for food.
Cut and shape the cheese:
Cut your cheese into small-to-medium-sized cubes.
If you’re feeling extra festive, consider cutting the cheese into creative shapes, such as a star for the top of the tree, similar to the M&S version.
Assemble the tree:
Thread your choice of meats, cheese, fruits, and olives onto cocktail sticks.
Begin sticking the cocktail sticks into the cone, starting from the base and working your way upwards.
Arrange larger items closer to the base and smaller items towards the top to create a full, tapered look.
Add the finishing touches:
Fill any remaining gaps with fresh herbs to add texture and fragrance.
