Hayfever Relief Products; Ease your seasonal symptoms

Friday 23rd Apr 2021 |

It’s hayfever and allergy season, and for some of us that means the onslaught of crappy symptoms that can drain our enjoyment of the warmer weather.

These hayfever and allergy easing products don’t promise to solve the pollen problem completely, but they might just ease your symptoms which is a great start

Dr Rekha Tailor of Health & Aesthetics says:

Hayfever Relief Products

‘People usually associate hay fever with symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose and watery eyes, however this common allergy can also affect skin too. If you’re prone to hay fever you may be at a higher risk of skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea and other skin irritations. It can cause a rash which is caused by the skin coming into contact with allergens such as the pollen in plants and flowers. Actual physical contact with allergens that cause hay fever, ie. pollens or grass seed for example – can cause an itchy rash or hives where they touched your skin. A secondary reaction to the environmental allergens can be a worsening of dermatitis, psoriasis or eczema.

How to treat it:

‘I would advise people to wear long sleeves when outside and to try to avoid direct skin contact with pollens that can aggravate the skin. There are some steps that you can take at home to try and relieve the irritation which include holding something cool on your skin like a damp towel, have a cool or warm shower or bath (make sure the water isn’t too hot and don’t stay in for too long), use an unperfumed emollient, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing, use laundry liquid for sensitive skin. If your symptoms still persist your GP may refer you to a specialist for further investigation.’
