Hairstyles we just have to have

Wednesday 28th Apr 2021 |

For months now, people all over the UK have been in desperate need to get their hair chopped. Finally, on April 12th, salons were allowed to open their doors again.

But what hairstyles are people asking for? Data analysts at Milk + Blush conducted research to find out which hairstyles people in the UK have been searching for the most…

Hairstyles we just have to have – Hair Extensions

According to Google Trends, hair extensions are the most searched for style. Over the last seven days, hair extensions have consistently been the most popular hairstyle, with their peak popularity occurring on 17th April.

Following in the footsteps of celebrities like Kourtney Kardashian, who recently showcased her newly fitted extensions,  it seems Brits have really wanted to let their hair down and make sure it’s long, thick, and volumized as we emerge from lockdown.

If you’re looking to invest in some extensions, it’s important to take care of them by only washing your extensions if it’s absolutely necessary,  not sleeping with wet hair, brushing them regularly, and minimising heat damage.

If you’re looking for a showstopper look without breaking the bank, clip-in hair extensions are the most versatile and cost-effective option. Clip-in hair extensions are the perfect solution to temporary longer, thicker locks whilst maintaining healthy hair and scalp. They are the safest, most comfortable, and quickest method to obtaining a hairstyle glow-up with the least commitment compared to alternative techniques.

Hairstyles we just have to have – The Mullet

Set to make a huge comeback this year, the mullet is the second most searched for hairstyle for trim seekers.

Taking inspiration from the likes of Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and even Tiger King star Joe Exotic, it looks as if hair enthusiasts all over the UK are looking to embrace their inner 70’s Rockstar.

Reaching its peak on the 16th of April, it seems this hairstyle isn’t looking to go away any time soon.

Hairstyles we just have to have – The Bob

Forever a favourite, the bob still remains massively popular among people in the UK, becoming the third most searched for hairstyle over the last week.

Fairly easy to maintain, this style is cool and simple and can be pulled off by so many as there are so many different bob-tions

Hairstyles we just have to have – Curtain Bangs

This style is the perfect way to give your hair a style makeover, without getting too ‘scissor happy’ and seems to be a favourite amongst UK hair customers at the minute.

Over the past week, 20 people per hour have been searching for the popular style on Google in the hope that their hairdresser can give them a little refresh.

And it seems pop queen Ariana Grande could have something to do with that, with a 300% rise in interest for ‘Ariana Grande curtain bangs’ on Google recently.

This is another great, low maintenance style to opt for your first trim as they can be easily styled, are great for framing your face and you don’t have the worry of having to get them cut frequently to keep them looking good.

Hairstyles we just have to have – The Pixie Cut

And finally, the pixie cut is the fifth most sought-after style for Brits searching for that post-lockdown glow.

Salons are mostly likely to be requested this style after fans saw Vicky McClure sporting a new cropped hairstyle in the hit TV show Line of Duty.

With this style, it’s all about the cut, so if you’re someone who just wants to jump out of bed and be ready for the day this could be for you. Alternatively, use serums, wax, or texturizing sprays to give it a bit of a boost.
