BERO Review: Tom Holland Swings into the Zero Alcohol Market with Blockbuster Beer Collection

Tuesday 08th Apr 2025 |

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has been very vocal about his sobriety in the past, and so the news he was launching a non-alcoholic beer seemed to resonate with his audience. With Gen Z allegedly drinking 20% less than millennials, the global zero alcohol market has sky-rocketed and is currently worth an estimated £17.2 billion.

BERO hit the market towards the end of 2024 and naturally caught the attention of the press due to Holland’s movie star status. Initially launched in Selfridge’s, BERO picked up a ton of positive reviews and is available in three distinctly different styles – all named by something connected to the actor himself.

According to the BERO website, the brand was born in London and crafted in America. So, are they any good? Here are our thoughts on all three variants.

Kingston Golden Pils

Named after Holland’s hometown of Kingston Upon Thames, Kingston Golden Pils does an excellent job of recreating a classic European lager. It’s a refreshing, light and malty sip, that includes notes of toast and herbs. We loved this one, as unlike many zero-alcohol lagers, it wasn’t too sweet or gassy.

Noon Wheat

Taking its name from Tom’s beloved schnauzer, this citrusy wheat beer pops with flavours of orange, lime and tropical fruits. This one was my personal favourite, as I’m a sucker for a good wheat beer and this was up there with the best alcoholic versions. Balancing fresh fruitiness with wheat and malted hops, Noon Wheat is perfect for booze-free summer days.

Edge Hill Hazy IPA

This New England IPA is named after Tom’s school and strikes a fine balance between hoppy notes and tropical fruits. I’m not a huge fan of IPA’s and so this one did end up being my least favourite, but I can imagine craft beer aficionados lapping this one up.

Final thoughts

Whether you’re quitting alcohol, cutting down or having a sober month, BERO is an impressive brand that offers up authentic flavours you just don’t tend to find on the supermarket shelves. The premium packaging looks great and the liquid contained within has clearly been crafted by someone with a passion for the market. Spider-Man’s beer gets a solid two thumbs from us.
