Black Forest Gateau Cake – A decadent classic Black Forest Gateau Cake made easy with Ta-Da!’s Chocolate Cake Mix.
Total prep and bake time required: 22 – 24 minutes
Recipe ingredients
- 500g pack Ta-Da! Chocolate Cake Mix
- 425g can black cherries in syrup
- 135ml vegetable oil
- 250ml double cream
- 1 tbsp Kirsch (optional)
- 150g cherry compote
- 15g plain chocolate, grated
Equipment Needed
- Large mixing bowl
- Measuring jug
- 2 x 20cm tins
- Preheated 180°C, gas mark 4
Recipe method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4. Grease and line 2 x 20cm round cake tins.
- Place the cake mix in a large bowl. Drain the can of cherries, reserving the syrup and make the syrup up to 240ml with water.
- Add this to the cake mix with the oil to form a smooth batter. Divide evenly between the 2 cake tins and bake for 22-24 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from the tin and allow to cool completely.
- Whisk the cream to soft peaks then whisk in the Kirsch, if using. Place 1 cake upside down on a board or platter and spread over half of the cream, spoon over the cherry compote. Top with the other cake and spread the remaining cream on top.
- Top with the reserved cherries and sprinkle over the grated chocolate.
Red Velvet Cake – A luxurious twist on a classic cake using Ta-Da!’s Vanilla Cake Mix.

- 500g pack Ta-Da! Vanilla Cake Mix
- 135ml vegetable oil
- Approx, 4 tsp red food colouring gel
- 150g butter, softened
- 300g icing sugar
- 1 tbsp freeze dried raspberry flakes to garnish (optional)

- Measuring jug
- 2 x cake tins
- Preheated oven to 180°C, gas mark 4.
Recipe method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C, gas mark 4.
- Grease and line 2 x 20cm round cake tins.
- Place the cake mix in a large bowl and mix in 240ml water and the oil to form a smooth batter. Add enough red food colour to give a deep red colour.
- Divide evenly between the 2 cake tins
- Bake for 22-24 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from the tin and allow to cool completely.
- Whisk the butter until pale and fluffy and gradually whisk in the icing sugar. Place 1 cake upside down on a board or platter and spread half of the icing over. Top with the other cake and spread the remaining icing on top. Sprinkle with dried raspberry flakes, if using.
Rocky Road Brownie (serves 9) – Just when you thought brownies couldn’t get any yummier, then there were rocky road brownies! Soft, chocolaty and chewy – what a treat!

- 500g pack Ta-Da! Chocolate Brownie Mix
- 60g plain chocolate, melted
- 75g glace cherries, chopped
- 150g butter, softened
- 3 digestive biscuits, broken into small pieces
- 50g raisins

- Greased and lined 22cm square tin
- Preheated oven to 180°C, gas mark 4
Recipe method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C gas mark 4.
- Grease and line a 22cm square tin.
- Place the brownie mix in a bowl. Stir in 140ml water and the melted chocolate and mix for 1-2 minutes. Mix in ¾ of the cherries, marshmallows, biscuits and raisins and spoon into the prepared tin.
- Sprinkle over the remaining cherry mixture.
- Bake for 30 minutes, allow to cool before removing from the tin and cutting into 9 squares.
Margherita Pizza Pinwheels (serves 12) – These individual pinwheels made with Ta-Da!’s Pizza Base Mix are a great twist on a cheesy margarita pizza, easy to make and perfect for sharing.

- 150g tomato & basil pasta sauce
- 100g grated mozzarella
- 75g mature Cheddar, grated
- 15g basil, leaves shredded

- Lined baking tray

- Preheated oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
Recipe method
- Preheat the oven to 230°C gas mark 8. Line a large baking tray with baking parchment.
- Place the pizza base mix in a large bowl and stir in 300ml water. Knead in a mixer fitted with a dough hook or by hand for 5 minutes until smooth.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a 30x40cm rectangle and spread with the tomato sauce. Scatter over both cheeses and the basil then roll up from the long end in a spiral.
- Cut this into 12 pieces mad place on the prepared tray, cut side up. Leave in a warm place for 10 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
Tomato, Olive & Rosemary Focaccia Style Bread (serves 9) – This recipe uses Ta-Da!’s White Bread Mix to create a perfect crispy outside with a soft and soft and chewy inside with a satisfyingly tasty infused oil flavour.

- 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 50g sundried tomatoes in oil, drained and halved
- 50g pitted black olives
- 3 sprigs rosemary, leaves only
- Sprinkle sea salt flakes

- 1 Large mixing bowl
- 20 x 24cm tin
- Measuring jug
- Preheated oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
Recipe method
- Place the bread mix in a large bowl and stir in 2 tbsp oil and 300ml water.
- Knead in a mixer fitted with a dough hook or by hand for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Grease a 20x24cm tin and press the dough to the edges with oiled hands. Cover with greased clingfilm and leave in a warm place for about 1 hour or until risen in size.
- Preheat the oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
- Make dimples in the dough with fingers and scatter over the tomatoes, olives and leaves from 2 sprigs of rosemary.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Drizzle over the remaining oil, pinch of sea salt and rosemary leaves, remove from the tin to cool.

- 1 tsp English mustard powder
- 50g grated mozzarella
- 75g vegetarian Cheddar cheese, grated
- 50g vegetarian Parmesan, finely grated
- 1 tbsp milk
- Chutney to serve
Equipment Needed
- 1 Large mixing bowl
- Large baking tray
- Measuring jug
- Preheated oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
Recipe method
- Place the bread mix in a large bowl and stir in the mustard powder, mozzarella, 50g Cheddar and all but 2 tbsp Parmesan.
- Mix in 300ml water.
- Knead in a mixer fitted with a dough hook or by hand for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Divide the dough into 8 and roll into balls on a lightly floured surface. Place the balls on a large baking tray lined with baking parchment in a circle with 1cm gap between each ball. Cover with clingfilm and leave in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 230°C, gas mark 8.
- Brush the rolls with milk and sprinkle over the remaining cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
- Serve with a bowl of chutney in the centre.
