Through autumn, Greater Palm Springs offers the best of both worlds with continued warm sunny weather and its streets and hiking trails being less occupied by tourists. This A/W season, the storied valley will be sprung into the spotlight as it takes to the screen in Olivia Wilde’s film, Don’t Worry Darling in September, its October Modernism Week is back and brand new openings are set to welcome more famous faces to the region. See below a calendar of events and openings set to take place:

  • Screening 23 September: See the recognisable rows of palm trees and mid-century modern architecture on-screen in Don’t Worry Darling. Greater Palm Springs will be the utopian backdrop for the psychological thriller brought to life by Olivia Wilde, starring Wilde, Florence Pugh, Harry Styles and Chris Pine.

  • 13 – 16 October: The desert hotspot will give an open-door insight into the region’s architecture with its four-day long “mini-Modernism Week”. More than 50 events, including tours, talks and parties in unique locations not usually open to the public will be available to tourists at a low cost or free.


  • Opening 1 November: Sensei Porcupine Creek is a private wellness retreat nestled into the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains. The 230-acre property will include classic Californian sport facilities, spa gardens and Sensei by Nobu, exclusively for resort guests. Prices from £1975 per person

  • 11 – 12 November: The El Gato Classic skateboard competition by skateboard legend and two-time world champion skateboarder Eddie ‘El Gato’ Elguera takes place each November in the Coachella Valley. Audiences and competitors can expect thrilling contests and live music.

  • Opening December 2022: Ariscure Arena is a brand new state-of-the-art sport and entertainment arena that will be home to the Coachella Valley Firebirds. With a 10,000-person capacity, 20 luxury suites, four Club Areas and many options for food and drink, it’s an exciting opening for entertainment and sport in Southern California.
