Angrove Country Park: A Luxurious Weekend Break Surrounded By Nature

Sunday 02nd Apr 2023 |

Have you ever considered the health benefits of taking a weekend break? Not only does it give us a chance to take short mental breaks from our daily lives, but it also helps to reduce stress hormones and improve emotional health.

A simple weekend getaway into nature can be incredibly rewarding – particularly, I find,  if it’s in a luxury lodge with a bubbling hot tub and a glass of Champagne…..or is that just me?

Spring is within sneezing distance, daffodils line winding country roads, the hum of the honey bee lingers in the air and at last, the days are longer and lighter – I love this time of year! As nature begins to stir and awaken from its winter slumber, there is something about spring that offers a rejuvenated motivation for getting outdoors and I have discovered the perfect place to enjoy a luxurious yet tranquil break, in a beautiful rural landscape and just stone’s throw from the spectacular North Yorkshire coastline with its charming seaside towns.

Set over 70 acres of rolling countryside at the foot of Roseberry Topping with its half-cone summit and jagged cliff, Angrove Park is a beautifully curated collection of luxurious accommodations – offering its guests a blend of bespoke lodges which are great for families, and unique domes, designed for couples – there are even pet-friendly options so nobody is left behind!

We enjoyed a weekend break with the ‘wow factor’ at Angrove Park recently, a luxurious home from home, our opulent lodge offered every mod con one could desire, beautifully furnished with an open plan (and very spacious) kitchen/living/dining space, full-size master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and two other rooms with twin single beds – plenty of room for the whole family! The quality of accommodation is next level, to be honest, everything feels high-end, it’s equal to an individual penthouse and with the addition of an enclosed private hot tub, and a pergola-covered outdoor dining area including a fully equipped outdoor kitchen complete with a ‘Big Green Egg’ BBQ, it’s perfect at any time of year!

I would have been happy to luxuriate in our lodge for the whole weekend, to be honest, but my husband is slightly more adventurous and wanted to get to grips with our locality so we packed up the pooches and hit the road heading for the delightful coastal town of Saltburn-by-the-sea which enjoys good old fashioned British seaside charm and Blue Flag status for its high-quality seawater, clean beach and its beachside amenities – buckets and spades aplenty! After a run on the beach for the dogs and a wander along Yorkshire’s only pier, we were ready for fish and chips and a cup of tea  – an absolute treat, especially given the incredible beachside location.

There are plenty of places to visit during your stay at Angrove Park,  a little further afield, you’ll find the North York Moors coast with 26 miles of dramatic and wild coastline, home to some of Northern England’s best beaches and most renowned seaside towns. The world-famous town of Whitby, not to mention the quaint village of Robin Hoods Bay – are both a short drive away and perfect days out for couples and families alike.

But I was ready for getting back to my luxury lodge to enjoy a little R+R, the steamy hot tub was calling my name and what could be better than a crisp glass of fizz whilst kicking back in a jacuzzi? Nothing – that’s right!

In keeping with the park’s upscale air of luxury and tranquillity, the onsite bar and restaurant G and Tea offers a very hospitable space for enjoying a convivial drink with friends on the terrace (weather permitting) or a delicious meal with all the trimmings. My husband and I were quite taken aback by the culinary offering, to be frank, the food and service were outstanding and something we weren’t particularly expecting, but given the rest of the park is so fabulous, I’m not sure why we were surprised. Fresh ingredients are carefully crafted into simple yet tasty dishes served in inviting surroundings with plenty of atmosphere, it’s certainly worth a visit during your stay and if not for a meal, then definitely try one of their cocktails!

What an outstanding place to visit and enjoy a short break with family or friends, from the dog treats and welcome drinks on arrival, to the beautifully appointed accommodation, sublime location and tantalising finishing touches, Angrove Park has it all. My advice? Get on the phone, book your stay, and enjoy all this pocket-sized slice of paradise has to offer. Tell them I sent you.
