The Secret to Selling Your Home Faster: Stage the Bedroom Like a Pro

As the UK property market heats up with the arrival of summer1, so does the opportunity to sell your home faster and at a better price.

With search trends for “how to sell home quicker” peaking in the warmer months1, and more properties hitting the market, Wren Bedrooms has teamed up with estate agent, Rachel Lansdell, from Preston Baker2 to uncover what really sells a home.

Joanne Dodsworth, Head of Bedrooms at Wren adds, “Summer is peak moving season for good reason. Longer daylight hours, school holidays, and more flexible work schedules mean buyers are out in force. But to stand out, houses need to feel like a home, and that starts with the spaces people retreat to.”

Why the bedroom matters more than you think

While kitchens and bathrooms typically attract the most focus, Rachel shares that it is often the bedroom that people feel the most attached to.

“The bedroom needs to feel like a sanctuary. A well-staged bedroom won’t necessarily sell the home on its own, but it can absolutely help seal the deal.”

Top bedroom design and styling tips from the experts:

Rachel says to create calm with colour, explaining,“Think calm, clean, and cosy. Opt for a neutral colour palette, such as soft pastels or earthy tones. These work wonderfully to create a relaxing atmosphere. I’d also avoid bold primary colours, which can be off-putting or overwhelming.”

She also suggests decluttering and dressing the bed, adding, “Above all, declutter. Remove personal items like shoes and clothing to help buyers imagine the space as their own. For dressing the bed, add visual interest through texture, such as a neatly folded throw on the bed and a few accent cushions can work wonders.”

It’s also encouraged to bring in texture and nature. Rachel explains, “Add life and softness with tactile accessories, think rattan baskets and indoor plants. These touches make the room feel warm and lived-in, not staged.”

Integrated storage is a game changer, according to both Rachel and Joanne.

“High-quality integrated wardrobes is a strong selling point. It offers a sleek, built-in look and saves buyers the expense and hassle of sourcing wardrobes themselves. However, condition is key, so ensure all doors and drawers are in working order and clean any mirrored surfaces thoroughly. Buyers will appreciate well-maintained, functional storage.”, says Rachel.

“With busy lifestyles driving a growing demand for organisation and simplicity, clever storage solutions are more sought-after than ever. Integrated storage not only maximises space but also brings a sleek, high-end feel to a room, reminiscent of a luxury hotel. This boosts its overall appeal to buyers.”, adds Joanne.

Summer’s boom in moving activity means homes are in demand, but competition is stiff, so sellers need to make every room count.

“One of the simplest yet most effective investments are in quality bedding and stylish accessories. A few elegant cushions, a luxurious throw, and coordinated linens can completely transform the feel of a bedroom. These items are also portable, so you can take them with you to your next home. It’s a small spend with a big impact.”, explains Rachel.

With buyers seeking that instant “I could live here” feeling, Wren Bedrooms is encouraging homeowners to ensure their bedrooms are market-ready this summer.
