The Best UK Hiking Destinations for a Dreamy Honeymoon Adventure in 2025

Friday 25th Apr 2025 |

With 229,000 searches for ‘cheap honeymoon destinations’ in the last week on TikTok, the trend for honeymooning close to home is on the rise – and it’s saving couples a fortune!

Bridebook’s recent 2025 Wedding Report showed that over one in six newlywed couples last year decided to have their honeymoon in the UK, rather than travelling abroad. As the UK embraces the trend of sustainable travel, many newlyweds are opting to support local tourism by staying within the country, cutting carbon footprints while enjoying luxury experiences.

Manchester takes the top spot for the best destination for a hiking honeymoon, with 585 hikes in the area. While the Peak District can be expected, there are plenty of long and short hikes across places like Didsbury, Trafford, and Salford. The top-rated hike on All Trails in Manchester is Dovestone Reservoir and Chew Reservoir Circular, a 13.5km hike taking you along three reservoirs. Manchester is a great option for those looking to unwind and put their feet up, with 84 spas to choose from. When compared to the wider population, Manchester had the highest proportion of spas, with over 15 per 100,000 people, meaning that newlyweds are sure to be able to switch off and enjoy all the amenities.

Surprisingly, London came in second place with 377 hikes on All Trails for the area. London is the perfect destination to sightsee while you walk. The top options on All Trails in London are Hampstead Heath Circular and Tamsin Trail, both exploring some of London’s green spaces. With a vast choice from almost 200 luxury honeymoon hotels and an impressive 168 Michelin-starred restaurants, it’s safe to say that couples honeymooning in the big smoke won’t be short of things to do.

Nestled next to the Peak District, Sheffield took the third spot for hiking honeymoons, with 200 well-known walks in the area. Sheffield also boasts an impressive 51 spas and 9 Michelin-star restaurants, so there are plenty of places to unwind after a long hike.

The top UK cities for honeymoons are as follows:

Hamish Shephard, Co-Founder and CEO of Bridebook, commented: “The increase in UK honeymoons is part of a wider shift we are seeing across our Wedding Report. We are seeing a growing split between the maximalists and minimalists. With an increasing number of couples choosing unplugged ceremonies and smaller celebrations, it’s clear that some couples are turning their back on the Instagram hype and are choosing to have a more dialled-down, authentic day in each other’s company closer to home. You can see a similar reflection in the honeymoon shift too.”

“It’s great to see that there are some amazing honeymoon destinations across the UK. Not only are staycations often cheaper options for couples, it’s also a great chance to explore a new city a little closer to home. It proves that couples can look after their pennies but still have a honeymoon to remember.”
