To identify the top 10 countries with the healthiest national cuisines, PTPioneer.com analyzed the average caloric content of national dishes, favorite local dishes, and traditional desserts from various countries. The average calorie count per 100 grams of these three dishes was determined for each country to show the typical nutritional value. Rankings were then determined based on the lowest average caloric values of 3 dishes.

South Korea tops the list of the countries with the healthiest cuisines, with an average of 68 calories for national dishes such as Kimchi, Bibimbap, and Bingsu. Kimchi also stands out with the lowest calories on this list, containing only 21 calories per 100 grams.
Peru secures the 2nd spot with dishes like Ceviche, Cuy, and Mazamorra Morada averaging 78 calories. The national dessert Mazamorra Morada has the lowest calories among all the analyzed desserts with 58 calories per 100 grams.
Iceland ranks 3rd on the list of the countries with the healthiest cuisines, with an average of 132 calories, including dishes like Hákarl, Minke whale, and Skyr. The Skyr (yogurt-like dessert) has the lowest calorie count of 66 per 100 grams among these 3, making it less caloric than a standard serving of Greek yogurt.
In 4th place on the list of the countries with the healthiest cuisines, Japan averages 145 calories, where traditional curry rice has a unique standing. It’s the second lowest calorie dish on the list, having only 107 calories for 100 grams.
With an average of 171 calories, Thailand’s Mango sticky rice, despite being one of the richest among the listed desserts, provides nutritional benefits, including vitamins from mango and energy from sticky rice, positioning Thailand at the 5th spot.
France, known for its culinary excellence, averages 181 calories, positioning it at 6th place. National dishes such as Pot-au-feu and Boeuf Bourguignon contribute to its ranking with their lower calorie counts, even with Mille-Feuille having the highest calories at 350 per 100 grams.
Ranking 7th with an average of 186 calories, India offers dishes known worldwide such as Khichdi, Biryani and Jalebi. Khichdi is the least caloric among them with 120 calories per 100 grams.
In 8th place on the list, Spain’s national cuisine averages 195 calories. While Flan, as a dessert, offers the lowest calorie alternative to cream-based desserts, Spanish Croquetas are the most calorific among the most favorite dishes on the list.
Mexico is in 9th position, averaging at 196 calories. Even with Tacos having the second-highest calories on the list, Pastel de tres leches, when compared to a typical chocolate fudge cake, is surprisingly less caloric, offering balance inside the national cuisine.
Israel rounds out the top ten with an average of 199 calories for national dishes. The rose water Malabi stands out for its low calories, bringing a balanced option to the traditional cuisine, despite falafel being the highest in calories among the national dishes.
