Commenting on the research, Anna McEntee, director at Comparethemarket, says:

“For holidaymakers looking for a trip with a touch of luxury, finding somewhere with an amazing pool can really add that wow factor.

While the right travel insurance policy can cover lost, stolen, or damaged personal possessions, you probably won’t be covered if you leave your belongings unattended, so ensure your stuff is stored securely if you head over to the pool for a dip.

If you do happen to fall victim to theft, it’s important to report it to the police as soon as possible, as some insurance providers require you to have done so within 24 hours for your claim to be valid.”
