Sunday 26th Jun 2022 |

It’s that time of year when you’re probably thinking about jetting off on your holidays. But are you looking for something different this year from your usual holiday destination?

If you’re tired of Thailand and so over Osaka, this article will look at five alternative places to travel in the Far East and things to do while you are there.

Alternative Far East holiday Destinations  – El Nido, Philippines

El Nido offers the perfect environment for a beach getaway. A completely untouched tropical paradise with white sand beaches, cliffs, turquoise sea, and tropical trees can be found here. It is breathtakingly beautiful.

Things to do:

  • Take a trip to the stunning Nagkalit-kalit Waterfalls.
  • For a breath-taking perspective of Bacuit Bay, you can climb Taraw Peak, natural limestone karst which rises over El Nido.
  • Visit Balay Cuyunon with a guide to learn about rural life.
  • Visit Makinit Hot Springs by foot.
  • Visit the lagoons on Miniloc Island, Tapuitan Island, and Star Beach by going island hopping.

Alternative Far East holiday Destinations  – Okinawa, Japan

A trip to Okinawa would take you straight to heaven. Not only is the food exquisite, but also the beauty of this Japanese Island. Okinawa, the only really subtropical territory in Japan, is a paradise where vibrant subtropical flowers grow all year round.

It is one of Asia’s ideal summer holiday spots, with its beautiful semi-tropical, white sandy beaches and a beautifully warm turquoise ocean.

Things to do:

  • Island-hopping – There are more than 160 stunning islands to choose from, but at the least, you should try to visit Agenashiku-Jima, Gahi-Jima, Shimoji-Jima, Irabu-Jima, and Kume-Jima.
  • Visit the Ufugi Nature Museum to go bird watching, canoeing, and hiking.
  • Visit Kerama and Ishigaki Island to see manta rays.
  • Visit the greatest coral reefs in Japan at Miyako Island, where you may do scuba diving.
  • Tour the famous Shuri Castle and the 14th-century city gates.

Alternative Far East holiday Destinations  – Macau, off mainland China

Macau

Macau displays a fusion of cultural influences despite being a Portuguese territory until 1999. The “Las Vegas of Asia” moniker refers to the enormous casinos and shopping centres that line the Cotai Strip, which connects the islands of Taipa and Coloane.

It’s no surprise that Macau’s casinos bring in more money from gambling than Las Vegas since you can play slots, craps, roulette, poker and live casino games there.

Things to do:

Take in the expansive city views from the Macau Tower.

  • Go to one of the Cotai Strip’s many casinos and try to beat the dealer in one of the more popular casino games like blackjack or poker.
  • Get ready to be amazed when you visit “The House of Dancing Water,” a water show spectacular presented in a state-of-the-art theatre in City of Dreams Macau.
  • Visit the giant panda pavilion in Macau to discover more about these adorable animals.
  • Take a half-day tour with an award-winning tour operator to see the A-Ma Temple and other fascinating historical and nostalgic sights that will leave you wanting more.

Alternative Far East holiday Destinations  – Paro, Bhutan

paro, Bhutan

A rich cultural heritage and spectacular natural beauty are all contained inside the lovely and colourful region of Paro.

It sits on the banks of the Pa Chhu (Paro river), giving it an old-world charm which distinguishes it from many other tourist destinations. It is home to many of Bhutan’s oldest temples and monasteries.

Things to do:

  • Pay a visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, a revered shrine.
  • Experience Bhutanese culture first-hand at the National Museum in Paro.
  • Tour Ugyen Pelri Palace.
  • Pay a visit to the Paro Dzong, apparently one of the best displays of Bhutanese design.
  • Take a hike to one of Bhutan’s most well-known monasteries, Taktsang Monastery or Tiger’s Nest.
  • Go on a side trip to Chelela Pass, one of Bhutan’s highest motorable passes.

Alternative Far East holiday Destinations  – Nha Trang, Vietnam

Nha Trang, one of Vietnam’s top vacation spots in Asia, is perfect for a beach getaway with its long stretches of sandy beaches. With a ring of hills surrounding it and a wide crescent beach, it has a beautiful location and warm waters that make it a year-round favourite for scuba diving (although plans are afoot to cut back on diving).

The numerous pubs and restaurants that make up this area’s nightlife add to its attractiveness.

Things to do:

  • For a great view of the bay, visit the Bao Dai Villas nearby.
  • Visit some of the nearby stunning beaches, including Dai Lanh Beach, Bai Tru Beach, and Doc Let Beach.
  • See the turtles, sharks, lionfish, seahorses and coral reefs at the National Oceanographic Museum of Vietnam.
  • Tour the Long Son Pagoda and the Alexandre Yersin Museum.
  • Travel to Vinpearland on the longest overwater cable car in the world.

Summary

Asia and the Far East are full of locations for a fantastic summer holiday, with many more beautiful beaches, vibrant cities, attractive settings, and natural wonders. All you need is the will to explore.

So, get out of your comfort zone and explore a new part of this world for a holiday that you will be sure to remember for a long time. What are you waiting for?
