19 Brilliant Healthy Food and Drink Brands to Power You Through to Summer

Tuesday 24th Feb 2026 |

The temptation to binge on junk food and sugary drinks during the bitter winter months is undeniable, but as the saying goes, you are what you eat. Thankfully, there are plenty of healthier alternatives out there that can deliver that comfort food hit, whilst not skimping on flavour.

From collagen-rich broths and reduced-sugar jam, to chocolatey mushroom honey to fruity magnesium water, we’ve hand-picked some of the best food and drink brands designed to make you feel good.

Freja Bone Broth

The popularity of bone broth has skyrocketed over the past decade, and nobody does it better than Freja. Produced sustainably in Norway, the UK-founded brand specialises in collagen and nutrient-rich chicken, beef and fish broths that instantly enrich soups, ramen, gravies, and stews. It’s by far one of the most practical and delicious ways to aid gut health.

Freja Classic Beef Bone Broth is made with grass-fed beef and is free from gluten, GMO, yeast, hormones and dairy. I  added some to my tried-and-tested homemade chilli and the results were incredible. Freja Chicken Instant Broth is another winner. Simply add hot water and grated ginger for a nutritious, warming drink, or to your chicken gravy for extra depth of flavour.

To prove just how versatile bone broth is, Freja has teamed up with Harper Collins to publish their first recipe book. The Bone Broth Book is loaded with ingeniously simple ways to enhance your recipes with unparalleled natural nutrition and rich flavours. We can’t wait to try the Hot and Sour Prawn Tom Yum Soup, or the Sticky Short Rib Birria (Mexican beef stew).

Shop Freja at your local Holland & Barrett , Waitrose, or save money with a Freja subscription. Grab The Bone Broth Book here

Maple Sunrise blends corn, ancient grains and maple syrup, resulting in a heavenly flavour that packs a mighty crunch. Choco Chimps are made with Fair Trade cocoa, whole grain corn, cane sugar and sea salt and should come with a warning in my humble opinion. This cereal is highly addictive and wipes the floor with Coco Pops – sorry Kellogg’s.

Tom Parker Creamery

tom_creamery

Established way back in 1921, Tom Parkery Creamery has always believed that healthy, grass-fed cows deliver the best milk and this is still evident today. Tom Parker Whole Milk is free-range, vitamin enriched and contains magnesium, vitamin K and vitamin D, all housed in a traditional glass bottle.

We can’t get enough of their Lavender & Chamomile Bedtime Milk, which contains magnolia to help reduce stress and nod off a little easier. It’s subtle flavour makes it the ideal post-supper drink before bed. Tom Parker is stocked in all good Waitrose, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s.

Fearne & Rosie Jam

Founded in the rolling hills of Yorkshire in 2019, Fearne & Rosie was created by ex-teacher Rachel, who was looking to create a reduced sugar jam that didn’t skimp on flavour. Mission accomplished; these jams are a real fruit bomb. Made with 70% fruit and 40% less sugar than the standard UK jam, each jar is bursting with goodness.
The brand has already picked up a Great Taste award and has crafted a limited edition Children in Need Strawberry Jam to help raise money for the beloved charity. Picking a favourite isn’t easy, but we’d have to go with the divine Blackcurrant Preserve, if we must choose one.
