Morty & Bob’s the family-owned, all-day restaurant, café and bar with locations in Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross and Westfield’s food court, Shepherd’s Bush, is opening its third location, in friendly neighbourhood, Kensal Rise on 5th December.
Morty & Bob’s will provide local Kensal Rise residents and visitors to the area a one-stop foodie destination, serving everything from morning coffee from Allpress, through to dinner and cocktails. With delicious dining options, expertly crafted drinks and a standout brunch offering; Morty & Bob’s Kensal Rise is set to establish itself as the go-to local all-day dining venue in North-West London.
A relaxed home away from home serving comfort food, snacks and drinks at its finest, Morty & Bob’s menu consists of locally sourced fresh seasonal ingredients and American-influenced dishes. Kensal Rise will also offer a range of healthier, light dishes perfect for regulars to enjoy daily, alongside Morty & Bob’s signature plates, for indulging solo or with the whole family.
Serving up brunch daily from 10am – 4pm, guests can dine out on delicious breakfast dishes including the Everything Bagel with smoked salmon, chive cream cheese, tomatoes, onions and capers, or the Confit Duck Hash with mustard, a maple glaze and a fried egg. Nothing says English breakfast like a Brunch Bun, stuffed with bacon and soft scrambled egg with parmesan, chives and harissa aioli.
For lunch and dinner, guests can expect lighter mains such as a Grain Bowl with roasted greens, beet houmous, avocado, cashew and chilli oil, or salmon fillet with warm beluga lentils, peas and dill. Heartier dishes include Bob’s burger & fries, made from aged chuck and rib cap patty, burger sauce, Emmental and slow-cooked onions in a brioche bun; Steak & Eggs with fries and chimichurri; Mufalde Pasta with aubergine, olive and a rich Pomodoro sauce as well as Free Range Chicken Schnitzel with dill pickles and fired capers, chopped salad and harissa aioli.
Puddings are not forgotten with a choice of counter cakes, Hackney gelato, a warm choc chip cookie and ice cream or fresh doughnuts with homemade Nutella to hit that sweet spot.
Lunchtimes come alive at Morty & Bob’s Kensal Rise with its tasty and affordable lunch combo, including half of its famous Grilled Cheese or a weekly sandwich special, alongside a choice of soup of the week or a seasonal salad for just £10. A range of freshly made meat and vegan weekly changing focaccia sarnies and salads are also available.
To drink, carefully crafted cocktails are hand poured alongside a range of local options such as beers and ales from Camden Brewery and quality wine and champagnes. Morty & Bob’s will be implementing its first use of keg wine by East London’s Uncharted Wines at Kensal Rise too – a more sustainable option with less environmental impact. An on-site filter water system offers guests purified bottled London water, with 50% of profits donated to WaterAid.
The venue which will host two outdoor, covered, and heated terraces, with period farmhouse tables, is the third outpost for Morty & Bobs. Making the most of the building’s period details, the space will have an inclusive, informal feel, combining the sensory qualities of polished wood, brushed stainless steel and leather seating, with clean off-white walls for fresh bright mornings, and dimly lit lighting come evening.
A standout bar, smoothly tiled in block colours of warm vintage white, burnt red and deep blue, will offer to counter seating in the centre of the action, or for a calmer morning coffee, guests will find cosy window corners perfect for people-watching. Morty & Bob’s Kensal Rise will feel welcoming and relaxed, a backdrop for neighbourhood life and the perfect spot for evening drinks and dinners.
Morty & Bob’s is headed up by owner and restaurateur, Charlie Phillips. Phillips’ love of food and inspiration from his two hardworking grandads spurred the creative idea for Morty & Bob’s – his grandparents’ namesake. He initially launched a street food stall in East London’s Netil Market. The brand then toured the UK music festival circuit and ran a series of pop-ups. Today, Morty & Bob’s has restaurants in Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross; Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, and soon Kensal Rise – the newest restaurant, bar and cafe.
