Hot Drink Recipes – Mulled Apple Juice with Pink Lady® Pomander

This Mulled Apple Juice with Pink Lady® Pomander can be enjoyed with or without the addition of alcohol – simply leave out the rum if you are going tee-total. This recipe is a truly warming tipple with seasonal spices and will keep you warm and toasty over the coming weeks.

The pomander is created by studding a Pink Lady® apple with cloves, giving the juice a real wow-factor as well as adding depth of flavour.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Make each pomander by wrapping string around the Pink Lady® apple as if you are tying a bow around a present. Wrap the string around the apple three times and tie a knot to secure. Leave some long pieces of string on the top of the apple.
  1. Using a sharp skewer or a tooth pick, prick holes in vertical lines down the apple, then push the cloves into the holes.
  1. In a large pan place the Pink Lady® apple juice, rum, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, star anise and your Pink Lady® pomanders. Gently bring to a near boil, then let the juice simmer gently for 5 minutes and turn off the heat. Serve hot or warm.
