The Paloma

This tequila-based cocktail is particularly popular in Mexico, and perfect for sipping on in the sun.

Step 1: Add tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and agave syrup to a cocktail shaker with a cube of ice and shake for 30 seconds or until the shaker is cold to the touch.

Step 2: Run a wedge of lime or grapefruit around the lip of a tall, empty cocktail glass then dip the rim into a plate of salt to coat it in a thin layer of salt.

Step 3: Fill your glass with the contents of your cocktail shaker and top with grapefruit soda. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit or lime.

Piña Colada

This classic is super easy and super speedy to make, perfect for making again and again.

Step 1: Chuck all the ingredients in a blender and whizz them up.

Step 2: Pour into cold glasses, and garnish with a wedge of pineapple. Easy!

Espresso Martini

A delicious coffee cocktail, and the perfect pick-me-up. This recipe makes two servings.

For the sugar syrup

For the cocktail

Step 1: To make the sugar syrup, put the caster sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and add 50 ml of water. Bring to the boil.

Step 2: Once the sugar is completely dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool.

Step 3: Put 2 glasses in the freezer to chill.

Step 4: Once the sugar syrup is cold, pour 1 tbsp into a shaker with a handful of ice, vodka, espresso and coffee liqueur. Give it a really good shake, until the cocktail shaker feels ice cold.

Step 5: Strain into your chilled glasses and serve with coffee beans on the top.

The Hedgerow Mojito

Tart, fizzy and refreshingly minty, this forager’s dream drink mixes seasonal British blackberries with a dash of zesty mojito flavour from the calles of Mexico. No need for rum, just dig out the gin from the back of your cupboard.

Step 1: Divide the mint leaves and sugar between the two glasses.

Step 2: Gently bruise the mint leaves with the back of a spoon for that extra zingy kick.

Step 3 : Carefully throw in your blackberries, lime juice, gin and ice.

Step 4: Top up with splash of soda water and enjoy.

Gousto’s Hangover Cure

You may be feeling a little worse for wear after a night of celebrations, so this is the ultimate rejuvinator. This recipe makes 2 servings.

Step 1: Remove the stalks from your kale, slice your cucumber in half lengthways and then into chunks.  Add the kale leaves, cucumber, celery and parsley into a juicer and blend into juice.

Step 2: Squeeze the juice of half a lemon, and 2 tbsp of pickle juice into the juice with a pinch of salt and stir until combined.  Try a spoonful and add extra pickle juice and salt to taste, you want it to be savoury with a slight tang.

Step 3: Divide between 2 glasses – check out our garnish tips below for how to add a chilli salt rim.

Garnish ideas: You’ve made yourself a fortifying juice full of hangover busting antioxidants, now you can have fun raiding your fridge for fancy garnishes, grab your cocktail sticks and leftovers and lets go:

The classics: you can’t go wrong with a leafy stick of celery, and a spicy salt rim.  Mix together 1 tsp of salt and one of chilli flakes (we love shichimi togarashi) on a plate, wipe the rim of a glass with a slice of lemon then roll the top of the glass in the chilli salt.

Stuff on sticks: It’s time to look through those random forgotten jars in the back of the fridge, olives, cornichons and pickled onions are all great options, thread them onto cocktail sticks to class up your drink – extra points if you can bring yourself to cube cheese to add to them.
