Sacla’ Pesto

As a taste of summer goes, Pesto has to be high in the charts. Jars of Pesto are the best way of extending the season of the basil grown in the unique Ligurian terroir. But Pesto is not the exclusive domain of basil, and while traditionally served with pasta, Pesto also elevates a multitude of dishes from rice, vegetables, meat, fish and tarts to picnic dips and spreads for pizza, flatbreads and bruschetta.

This award-winning Pesto is crammed with chillies giving it an indubitable kick. Enjoy the heat simply with pasta or risotto, spread on toasted sourdough, with soups or on bruschetta topped with roasted courgette and grilled halloumi.

Black truffle is an Italian jewel hunted through the summer, identifiable by its pungent aroma. The earthy flavour is difficult to put into words. Just a spoonful or two with plenty of freshly milled black pepper and Parmesan transforms Tagliatelle. Truffle Pesto also takes scrambled eggs to a whole new level.

A tasty Calabrian paste made with pork and chilli, this packs a unique punch of flavour into toppings, sauces, soups and omelettes. Moreish with meat and particularly fabulous with fish, simply mix with breadcrumbs and EVOO, spread over cod and bake for 12 minutes on 180ºC.

This enticing recipe combines dark Italian olives with oil, nuts, cheese, fragrant basil and a dash of Modena balsamic vinegar. Sublimely simple with just pasta and parsley and equally delicious with linguine, broccoli, lemon zest and mozzarella.

The Sacla’ Pesto range is available online at and leading supermarkets.

Two Farmers crisps

The UK’s first sustainable crisp brand that recently launched a 100% compostable crisp packet.

There are five flavours: Lightly Salted, Salt & Cider Vinegar, Hereford Hop Cheese & Onion, Hereford Bullshot and Herefordshire Sausage & Mustard – as well as 500g tins, they’re also available in 40g packets and 150g sharing bags.

Two Farmers is the brainchild of Herefordshire farmers Mark Green and Sean Mason who wanted to create a sustainable crisp brand that utilised their own-grown potatoes, supported local producers and contributed and supported the British countryside.

Seaweed Crisps with a Real Crunch

London-based healthy snacks company Abakus Foods introduces Seaweed Crisps with a real crunch!

The scrumptious Seaweed Crisps are made of seaweed harvested from the deep blue seas of South Korea, and coated with a thin layer of crunchy tapioca to create the crunchiest seaweed snack. Seasoned with three tantalising flavours – Lightly Salted, Salt & Vinegar, and Cheese Flavour – these yummy crisps are made without any nasties, and are gluten-free, vegan, and only contain about 100 calories per bag.

Harnessing the power of natural foods, the Seaweed Crisps combine nutritious seaweed with wholesome tapioca to offer a perfect picnic snack with health benefits. Seaweed is known for its vitamin and mineral content, and is a source of iodine which helps support cognitive function and functioning of the nervous system. Tapioca, extracted from the roots of the cassava plant, is a “resistant starch” which feeds the friendly gut-bacteria to the gut, thereby reducing inflammation and increasing fullness.

You can enjoy this guilt-free snack as part of your lunch, as an afternoon pick-me-up, in lunch boxes, to take on travels, and it can be even enjoyed sprinkled on salads and soups to add flavour. Being part of the 1% For The Planet Program means that 1% of sales from this range goes towards charities in support of environmental causes.

Available in three recipes from the Geary family bakery’s original award winning competition book where each recipe has been numbered:

No. 08 White Ciabattin: The classic. Nicknamed “crumpet bread” – it makes for perfect toast…but it’s versatile enough to work wonderfully for a sandwich or as a dunker for dips too!

No. 11 Grains & Seeds Ciabattin: An even healthier, yet still tasty alternative to the White Ciabattin. This seeded bread combines sunflower seeds, linseeds and spelt to make a versatile seeded loaf, ideal for picnic sandwiches or avocado and poached egg on toast.

No. 10 Craft Beer Ciabattin: Water in the dough is replaced with Vixen Copper Ale – a local craft beer from Charnwood Brewery. The rich, hoppy taste goes remarkably well with artisan cheese.

Thanks to the small batch 24-hour slow fermentation process typical of sourdough bread, Jason’s is full of rich flavours and contains no added sugars, preservatives or additives, unlike a lot of bread on the shelves. It’s the perfect bread option for those looking to lead a healthier and more natural lifestyle but not looking to sacrifice good taste. It is also vegan friendly. The bag packaging is resealable, meaning it still tastes great after several days.

Jason’s Bread is available now in M&S stores nationwide, RRP £1.80.

Tongue in Peat

Tongue in Peat tomato juice is the first of its kind perfect for a picnic. Slowly infused with Islay peat smoke to create a unique flavour, it is richer and deeper in taste than your average tomato juice. Designed to be the ultimate Bloody Mary mixer, it is hand-crafted in Scotland by a team of less than twelve people.

Peat from the Scottish Island of Islay, is globally renowned for having a polarising taste. The peat, smoky by nature, grows underground and absorbs the sea salt notes from the atmosphere of this rugged little island on the west coast of Scotland.

Using a smokery (operated by a single individual) to extract maximum flavour, the dried peat is infused into the fresh, seasonal tomatoes. The result? A well-balanced yet utterly unique batch of sweet, smoky and salty tomatoes which are then blended and hand-bottled by Scottish drinks innovation agency, The Start Up Drinks Lab.

‘All-you-can-eat’ Edible Tea Anyone?

New flavours and loose-leaf packs for those that don’t like to be told what a serving size should look like

New flavours join the Nim’s Fruit Crisps award-winning Edible Tea range, now available in an a loose-leaf ‘all-you-can-eat’ resealable pack in a wider choice of fruit and vegetable flavours perfect for a picnic.

New flavour combinations Orange, Lemon & PineappleWatermelon & Lime and Apple & Beetroot have been added to the Edible Tea line-up alongside Pineapple & Kiwi and Beetroot & Pineapple (previously Beetroot, Pineapple & Parsnip).

If you’re the sort of person that likes to be more generous with your servings, then Nim’s loose-leaf Edible Teas are for you! Already available in individual sachets, each portion delivers one of your five a day and packs a healthy dose of Vitamin C and fibre, so you can never have too much of a good thing!

Made in the UK at Nim’s allergen-free facility in Kent, Edible Teas are naturally vegan and made from a nutritious combination of air-dried fruit and vegetables. When steeped in hot water, vibrant, natural colour fills the pot and intense aromas fill the room. The flavours are as authentic as the fruit and vegetables used, which have been air-dried (not fried) to give the fullest flavour and nutritional value.

Once the tea has been sipped and savoured, the fruit that is left is fully rehydrated and ready to snack on. Enjoy the rehydrated fruits on top of porridge and yoghurt or try the rehydrated vegetables as an extra ingredient in soups and pasta dishes. So, from tractor to teacup, there is practically zero waste.

One portion of Pineapple and Kiwi tea provides 49% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin C.  Nim’s teas are not only high in fibre and Vitamin C but they are so natural and safe that they can be consumed by children (and even toddlers – but take care with hot water!) making them a real family favourite.

“Our ‘all-you-can-eat’ format allows consumers to indulge themselves with their preferred portion size but still be healthy with a sip and snack option that contributes to wellbeing,” says owner Nimisha Raja, Founder of Nim’s Fruit Crisps, which was recently awarded a Queen’s Award for Innovation.

All Nim’s products are manufactured in the UK using just pure fruit and veg; the range is entirely fat, gluten and dairy free, as well as being Vegan and Kosher certified.
