Fancy a trip to London ? Well that would be nice, a little break in one of my favourite cities. I’d been invited to stay at the recently re opened The Resident Covent Garden in the bustling heart of Covent Garden and we were very excited to have such a brilliant location to explore from .
The pre arrival information arrived a few days before which was informative and useful particularly in the current climate with helpful details of all Covid precautions.
We arrived after a short 3 minute walk from Covent Garden station ( it’s equally close to Charing Cross) and with masks on and hands sanitised entered a clean, tidy and functional reception area to be greeted by two members of staff who were extremely friendly and welcoming which always sets a nice tone. ( nothing worse than sullen receptionists) check in was quick and efficient and all our questions answered and a full explanation of their Covid safe practices
The whole feel of the place (The Resident Covent Garden) was clean and modern. In the lift to the third floor and along a plush carpeted corridor to our room.
This is where the oohs started my wife , not usually prone to outbreaks of delight about a hotel room, was clearly delighted. Tastefully decorated in greys and cream with crisp white bed linen it certainly looked a comfortable place to stay. I put the bag down to hear the first oooh “ the bathroom’s amazing” and indeed it was. A large monsoon shower, Gilchrist and Soames toiletries, good quality fluffy white towels and speakers in the ceiling.
A large state of the art TV on a wall where you could actually watch it from bed ( I once stayed in an airport hotel where the tv was round the corner)
The next oooh was for the mini kitchen hidden behind wardrobe doors. Sink with filter tap, microwave, crockery, cutlery ,kettle and best of all a Nespresso machine. Now here’s the thing apart from a few drinks and crisps available from room service this hotel doesn’t actually have a bar or kitchen which given all that is immediately around you isn’t needed. Instead they offer a pre order service where they will stock your mini kitchen with groceries you pre order at cost ( no service charge) or you can order from any of the multitude of food delivery apps and once it arrives they bring to your room ( again no service charge)
Showered and changed another oooh for the ghd hairdryer ( definitely didn’t leave her wishing she’d bought her own ) also an ironing board and iron on hand .
After our evening out it was very nice to retire to our room for a little midnight snack at the small dining table before retiring for an extremely comfortable night. The very effective double glazing blocking out all the hustle and bustle outside.
A very efficient checkout ( 12 noon so no rush ) and the offer to look after our bags whilst we spent the rest of our time exploring
As we left we looked at each other and said simultaneously “ definitely coming back here”
As I write I’m already trying to fit in dates for The Resident in Liverpool .
