Mexico is one of North America’s most popular travel destinations, and it’s not hard to see why. Mexico has it all, from delicious cuisine to white-sanded beaches. Travel to Mexico has been limited for some time now because of COVID-19 and international travel bans. Fortunately, everything’s back to normal now, and there’s never been a better time to visit.
Because Mexico’s such a large country, you need to carefully plan out your visit so that you get the most out of it. This article will tell you a list of places that you need to visit on your next trip there:
Visit Mexico – Mexico City
Mexico City is the nation’s capital and home to Mexico’s largest and busiest airport. It’s a great place to start your journey into Mexico. In addition to being the nation’s capital and home to the largest airport, it is also the nation’s cultural hub. Not only are there lots of clubs, bars, museums, and theatres everywhere, but there are also many galleries. You could also consider taking a gondola ride along the city’s ancient canals. Mexico City is definitely not somewhere that you should miss.
Visit Mexico – Yucatan Peninsula
The Yucatan Peninsula is a large peninsula located in Mexico’s southeast. It is a very popular tourist destination, that you may have heard of before. When referred to by tourists, it is usually shortened to just Yucatan. As you can read here, Yucatan Peninsula has lots of cenotes, which are natural pits or sinkholes, swam in and visited by tourists. That’s not all that Yucatan has to offer, however. Like all of Mexico, it has thousands of beautiful, delicious restaurants, friendly locals, and lots of places for you to go and relax. It’s somewhere you absolutely have to visit when in the country.
Visit Mexico – Acapulco
Acapulco isn’t as popular as it once was. Many years ago, Hollywood’s most famous descended upon Acapulco in their time off, to enjoy themselves and to get away from the hassle that fame brings. The town is still as lively and fun as it once was, however, just now it is a little quieter and there are fewer tourists. Acapulco has lush, green hills, woodland, and sandy beaches, as well as restaurants, bars, and clubs. If you are stuck for places to visit on your trip to Mexico, then Acapulco is definitely somewhere that you should consider.
Visit Mexico – Cancun
Cancun is Mexico’s main party town, popular with teenagers on their spring breaks. There’s a lot more to do in Cancun than party, however. It’s also home to Mexico’s second-largest airport, so you can fly there directly. From February through to April, Cancun comes alive. Thousands of students and holidaymakers travel there during this period to enjoy the festivities. There are bars, parties, and restaurants, as in all of Mexico. If you are going to visit Cancun, try to book your hotel long in advance because the hotels can get pretty full when February rolls around.
Visit Mexico – Guadalajara
Guadalajara is Mexico’s second-largest city. It’s also often regarded as Mexico’s best city for mariachi performances. If you are a fan of music, then it’s definitely worth visiting this city. The city has regular craft markets, delicious street food, and lots of restaurants. It’s also a very safe city. If you are planning on visiting and want to save money, then it’s definitely worth visiting during the city’s shoulder season, when tourism is down. If you visit during this time, then you should be able to bring down the amount of money that you have to spend on hotels and food significantly.
The city also has a number of cultural institutions, like museums and galleries. The city’s biggest attraction, by far, is its cathedral, however, which is truly incredible. The cathedral is built in the Spanish Renaissance style but also has Neo-gothic spires, which add lots of character to the building.
Visit Mexico – Oaxaca City
Oaxaca City is located in the south of Mexico. It is a very attractive city, with UNESCO World Heritage Site (its plaza). The city has a flavour of its own, that can only be experienced by travelling there. As with all of the cities on this list – and every city in Mexico – it has amazing food! Oaxaca’s cuisine is of its own, however, so it’s definitely worth checking out. In addition, just outside the city, there are forested hills, which are great for hiking. In and around these hills are small villages, where you can buy crafts.
Mexico is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world. It’s a country that has received some bad press in recent years, but despite this is incredibly safe, and deserves to be visited. It has a rich history, culture, and one of the world’s most delicious cuisines – so give it a go!
