1. It’s all about the base!

“A good Summer bedscape is all about the base. With Summer temperatures on the rise, you want to ensure you choose a fabric that is not only going to look good, but that is going to keep you cool on those sticky summer nights.

Linen is a great choice for the summer months, but it is equally as good of a choice for the winter months too, so you won’t need to worry about re-purchasing a winter duvet set, as linen will see you through every season! Linen is breathable and absorbent, and therefore helps to regulate your body temperature whilst you sleep, not to mention it is super soft. A naturally dense fabric that won’t weigh you down or make you too hot, linen still feels luxurious and comforting – a win-win!”

2. Add some colour

When we think of Summer, we think of colour, so this is the perfect time to inject a bit of life into your bedroom. Whether you opt for a brightly coloured duvet set, or you just want to add pops of colour with pillow covers and cushions, look to colours such as yellows, greens, pinks and purples, to emulate the beauty of the outdoors.

If you’re going to brave a coloured duvet set then make this your focal point. Try to tie your other bedroom accessories such as flowers, candles and small decor items into this colour palette to give the room a seamless, summery feel.”

3. Play with patterns

Incorporating patterns into your summer bedscape is another great way to add a layer of interest. Like colour, you don’t have to go for a fully patterned duvet cover set, you can add patterns in more subtle ways too.

For summer, you want to keep things light and airy, and this goes for your pattern choices too. Opt for ditsy florals or stripes, broken up by block colours in the same palette. This will help to keep things from looking too busy and chaotic.

If you would prefer to keep your bedding plain, then you can add pattern into your bedscape with a rug placed at the end of your bed or underneath. Doing this will frame your bed, making it the star of your bedroom show!”

4. Mix & match textures – waffle throw & seersucker

Nature in Summer is full of textures, from trees to grass, different flowers and beyond. So naturally you’ll want to emulate that with your bedscape to really give it a summer feel.

Rather than sticking to just one texture, play around with mixing and matching. Soft linen or cotton pillow covers paired against a seersucker duvet, framed with wooden bedside accessories and a woven rug will give a beautiful natural feel to your bed set up. Take it even further by adding other contrasting accents such as a waffle throw or textured scatter cushions.”

5. Bring the real outside in

“Summer bedscaping, as we have established, is all about bringing the season into your bedroom. Well, there really is no better way to do that than to literally ‘bring the outside in’. Take some cuttings of your favourite summer flowers and adorn your bedside tables with beautiful vases of fresh blooms. Be sure to match your flower or branch cuttings to your chosen bedscape colour palette. However, if you’ve opted for a more neutral base, then your cutting will be the perfect subtle pop of colour!”
