Five reasons to try semi-permanent make-up in 2023

Monday 09th Jan 2023 |

With ever-expanding skincare routines and a constant squeeze on time in the mornings, long make-up routines are a thing of the past for many.

Enter semi-permanent make-up. Low-maintenance beauty treatments for brows, eyes, lips and skin that leave you looking and feeling fresh-faced each morning. If that wasn’t reason alone to book a consultation, Karen Betts, award-winning semi-permanent make-up artist and creator of Nouveau Lashes and HD Brows gives us her top five reasons to try a treatment this year….

 Save time in your routine

“Set the alarm 20 minutes later this year thanks to semi-permanent makeup. Treatments provide a natural enhancement to brows, eyes or lips, which reduces the need for make-up or at least reduces the time it takes to apply make-up each morning. Take brows for example, if they are microbladed, there is no need for pencil, fill or shape day-to-day, you can simply get up and go with great brows.”

Get natural results

“Semi-permanent makeup has come a LONG way and the results are so subtle now. Think fresh-faced beauty and natural enhancements. Permanent or semi-permanent terms can often be a little misleading, as the effect we are trying to create is not that of strong makeup. The idea is that when you wake up in the morning you just look like a better version of yourself.”

“You can truly get the perfect colour match with semi-permanent make-up. My (KB Pro) pigments ensure a natural fade over time and are chosen following analysis of each client’s skin overtone and undertone. Whether it be brows, eyes or lips, mine and my team’s extensive knowledge on colour theory ensures the best possible pigment colours are selected for each individual.”

No make-up mishaps

Ever attempted winged eyeliner 30 times and given up? With semi-permanent treatments such as eyeliner (subtle or winged), the perfect and most precise look can be created. Even when faded and ready for a colour boost, the shape is easy to follow with a liquid liner. It takes seconds!”

Low maintenance looks

“These treatments require very little upkeep. Following your first treatment, you’ll need a ‘retouch’ after four weeks to fill in any gaps or patches that may have occurred, due to the body’s natural healing process. After this, you’ll need to come back once a year for a colour boost. We say semi-permanent as pigments are not like tattoo inks. They are designed to fade gradually because faces and fashions change over time. We allow for adaptations to be made, which would not be possible with permanent tattoo inks.”
