Wednesday 24th Aug 2022 |

The exotic birds of Papua New Guinea, the tropical colors, the mix of cultures, and the tribal traditions will tantalise your senses.

It has more than 20,000 plant species, 800 species of coral, 600 species of fish, and 750 species of birds. Papua New Guinea offers beautifully diverse and dramatic landscapes and is one of the world’s least discovered countries.

Tourism in Papua New Guinea is a fledgling industry but there are attractions for the potential visitor which include culture, markets, festivals, diving, surfing, hiking, fishing and the unique flora and fauna.

Papua New Guinea1   Eiwo River, Oro Province

Popondetta is just a thirty-minute flight from the capital Port Moresby, from their take a drive up the Kokoda Highway.   Here you will find crystal clear, fast-flowing rivers.  One in particular, the Eiwo River at Pija village, is a turquoise dream.

2   Turubu Coast, East Sepik Province

If the Sepik River is the heart of East Sepik Province, then the Turubu coastline is its charming counterpart.  Boasting miles of awe-inspiring beaches and warm ocean breezes, the coastline is deserted and perfect.

3   Rondon Ridge, Western Highlands Province

Cradled in the hills surrounding Mt. Hagen, Rondon Ridge Lodge has panoramic views of the Waghi Valley below and the surrounding mountains:  the golden sunsets and sunrises are award winning and instagram worthy.

4   Arawa, Bougainville

Named after Louis Antoine de Bougainville who reached the tiny island in 1768.  Arawa is an utterly gorgeous small town.

5  Butaweng Fall, Morobe Province

This must-see PNG landmark is close to Finschhafen Town, 80 kilometres east of Lae.  Possibly one of the least well known but probably one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.
