Enjoying Beer While Traveling Abroad

Friday 10th Jun 2022 |

Whether you’re traveling for work or pleasure, nothing beats the taste of a cold beer after a long day of sightseeing or meetings. But what if you’re in a foreign country and your favorite brand isn’t available?

Or maybe you want to try something new? Don’t worry – with these four easy steps, you can enjoy your favorite beer while traveling abroad without any trouble.

1. Get A Bottle

A sustainable and easy way to get your favorite beer while traveling is to simply buy a bottle before you leave. This way, you can take it with you on the plane or in your carry-on, and enjoy it in your hotel room or at a local bar. Just be sure to check the rules and regulations of the country you’re visiting beforehand – some places have restrictions on bringing alcohol into the country. However, carrying a beer bottle might be distasteful and even prohibited in some places. So, buying an insulated beer bottle to hold your beverage might be the best option for you to enjoy it without having everyone see what you’re drinking. Additionally, these bottles will also keep your beer cold for a longer period.

2. Check The Local Supermarkets

If you’re not able to bring your favorite beer with you, or you simply want to try something new, then checking the local supermarkets is a great option. In many countries, you can find big international brands such as Heineken, Corona, and Stella Artois in the larger supermarkets. However, the selection of beers might be limited, so it’s always worth checking out some of the smaller, local stores too. Here you’ll often find a much wider selection of beers, including some that are unique to the country or region you’re visiting.

3. Visit A Beer Festival

If you’re a real beer lover, then visiting a beer festival is the perfect way to try out lots of new and different types of beers from all over the world. There are now beer festivals taking place in many countries, so do some research before you go on your trip to see if there’s one happening during your visit. Not only will you get to try out lots of new beers, but you’ll also have the chance to meet other like-minded people and maybe even make some new friends.

  • Oktober Fest: This is the world’s largestVolksfest (beer festival and traveling funfair). Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16-day folk festival running from mid or late September to the first weekend in October. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and is well-known among tourists.
  • Brussels Beer Weekend: This is a two-day beer festival held every year in September in the Grand Place, Brussels. It is one of the biggest beer festivals in Belgium, with around 100 different beers available to try.
  • Oregon Brewers Festival: This is a five-day beer festival held every year in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is one of the largest and oldest craft beer festivals in the country, with around 80 different beers available to try.
  • Great British Beer Festival: This is a five-day beer festival held every year in August in London, England. It is the biggest beer festival in the country, with around 900 different beers available to try.

4. Ask The Locals

If you can’t find your favorite beer in the stores, or you want some insider knowledge on where to get the best beer in town, then asking the locals is always a good idea. In many countries, people are proud of their local beers and breweries, so they’ll be more than happy to give you some recommendations on where to go. If you’re staying in a hotel, the staff will also be able to give you some tips on the best places to drink beer in the area.

Go To A Bar

Of course, one of the best ways to enjoy a cold beer while traveling is simply to go to a bar. This is a great way to socialize with locals and get to know more about the country’s culture and nightlife. Plus, you’ll be able to try out some of the local beers that you wouldn’t be able to find in the stores. When choosing a bar, it’s always worth checking out the reviews online beforehand to make sure it’s a reputable place with good beer.

These are just a few of the many ways you can enjoy your favorite beer while traveling abroad. So, next time you’re planning a trip, make sure to keep these tips in mind, and you’ll be sure to have a great time. Cheers!
