Spicy Cocktails For February – Rad Paloma
Ingredients
- 1 can Stiegl Grapefruit Radler (you will need approx. 100ml per serve)
- 1 Grapefruit
- 50ml Zignum Mezcal
- Smoked sea salt
- Chilli flakes
- Garnish: smoked salt and chilli flakes for the rim
- Glass: Collins
Method
- Mix smoked sea salt with a pinch of chilli flakes (to taste) on a saucer. Rub a slice of grapefruit around the rim of a glass and roll the rim in the salt mixture.
- Add a slice of grapefruit to a cocktail shaker and muddle.
- Add 50ml mezcal and ice, then mix for 30 seconds.
- Double strain into the rimmed glass. Top with the Stiegl Grapefruit Radler and stir gently.
Spicy Cocktails For February – Tropical Heat
Ingredients
- A couple of stalks of coriander with leaves (roughly chopped – about a tbsp)
- 30ml lime juice
- 1 slice of a serrano chilli pepper (approx. 1cm thick – more if you like it spicy)
- 50ml Zignum Mezcal
- 50ml fresh pineapple juice
- 50ml fresh grapefruit juice
- 15ml simple syrup
Garnish: Wedge of Grapefruit/Chilli
Glass: Highball
Method
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the coriander, lime juice and chilli.
- Fill with ice and add the mezcal, pineapple juice, grapefruit juice and simple syrup.
- Shake well and strain in to a highball glass filled with ice.
- Garnish with a wedge of grapefruit and a thinly chopped chilli pepper
Spicy Cocktails For February – Pink Peppercorn Gimlet
Ingredients
- 1/2 tsp whole pink peppercorns
- 60ml Hernö London Dry Gin
- 30ml lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 15ml simple syrup
Garnish: A pinch of pink peppercorns
Glass: Nick & Nora
Method
- In a cocktail shaker, gently crush and muddle the pink peppercorns.
- Add the gin, lime juice and simple syrup, fill with ice and shake well.
- Strain into a Nick & Nora glass and garnish with a few pink peppercorns.
Dark ‘n’ Spicy Rum Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 60ml Goslings Black Seal Rum
- 30ml Chilli & Ginger Syrup (Add 1 cup of peeled and sliced fresh ginger, 1 jalapeno chilli -whole but pierced with a skewer several times, 1 cup of dark brown sugar, 1 cup of water to a pan and simmer for around 30 mins. Strain well, let it cool and store in a bottle in the fridge.)
- 15ml lime juice
- 15ml soda
Garnish: wheel of lime and slice of ginger
Glass: single rocks glass
Method
- Add ice to a single rocks cocktail glass.
- Pour over the rum, chilli & ginger syrup and lime juice.
- Top with soda and stir to combine.
Spicy Cocktails For February – Mezcran Kick
Ingredients
- 30ml El Recuerdo Mezcal
- 30ml fresh lime juice
- 30ml cranberry juice
- 15ml simple syrup
- 10 coriander leaves
- 1 fresh jalapeno chili
Garnish: Chilli wheel/slice
Glass: Tumbler/Rocks
Method
- Muddle the coriander leaves and approx. half an inch of the chilli in a cocktail shaker.
- Add ice, the mezcal, lime juice, cranberry juice, the simple syrup and shake well.
- Double strain into a tumbler glass filled with ice.
- Garnish with a slice of chilli.
Spicy Cocktails For February – Gin-ger Elder
Ingredients
- 3 slices of fresh ginger – each approx. the size of a 10p piece
- 6 fresh mint leaves
- 15ml simple syrup
- 30ml Conker Dorset Gin
- 15ml elderflower liqueur
- 15ml lemon juice
- 15ml soda
Garnish: Mint sprig
Glass: Single rocks glass
Method
- Muddle the ginger, mint and simple syrup.
- Add the gin and elderflower cordial, fill with ice and shake well.
- Double strain into a single rocks glass filled with one large lump of ice.
- Add soda and garnish with mint leaves.
