I Didn’t Think My Floors Were That Dirty Until I Bought the Eufy Omni C28
I’ll be honest – I thought my floors were clean.
I have hard floors throughout the downstairs of my home – LVT flooring through most of the house and porcelain tiles in the kitchen. It looks beautiful… most of the time.
The trouble is, I also have a lot of glass. We’re talking large windows, French doors and a ceiling lantern that floods the house with natural light.
Imagine my horror on one particularly bright summer morning when the sunshine streamed through the windows and illuminated what I can only describe as tumbleweed balls of dust and dog hair rolling casually across the floor. Every footprint, every crumb, every dusty corner and every suspicious ring left by a hastily abandoned cup of tea was suddenly on full display, lit up like Las Vegas.
Mortified doesn’t even cover it.
The main culprit, I have to say, is my rather sweet little adopted dog, Ellie. She’s been with me for around 18 months now and has made herself completely at home, including generously distributing a fine layer of blonde fur throughout the house on what feels like an hourly basis.
Then there’s my own long hair, my terrible habit of eating the occasional digestive without bothering to find a plate, and the fact we live in the countryside, where opening the doors for even five minutes seems to invite half the outdoors inside.
I’m not painting a very glamorous picture, I know.
The funny thing is, I wasn’t neglecting the house. Quite the opposite. I was out with the Dyson at least twice a day, desperately trying to stay on top of it all. Vacuuming was manageable. Mopping, however, was another story. It became a weekly job simply because it was such a chore.
That’s what eventually sent me looking for a better solution.
This Isn’t My First Robot Vacuum
The thing is, this isn’t actually my first robot vacuum.
A few years ago, I picked one up in a Black Friday deal for around £100 and, honestly, it turned out to be one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
Once I’d discovered just how much time it saved, it was out every single day – sometimes twice a day. That little lifesaver quietly glided around the downstairs, collecting all the dust, dog hair and crumbs before dutifully returning to its charging dock (or, as we affectionately call it in our house, his bed) ready for his next shift.
I genuinely wondered how I’d managed without one.
So, when I discovered that robot vacuums had evolved and could now mop the floors as well, upgrading was a complete no-brainer.
If a robot could save me from vacuuming, surely one that could vacuum and mop might finally put an end to my weekly battle with the hard floors.
That’s when I decided to put the eufy Omni C28 Robot Vacuum & Mop with All-in-One Station to the test.
Meet the Eufy Omni C28
Unlike my old robot vacuum, the Omni C28 doesn’t simply charge itself between cleans – it almost looks after itself too.
The robot comes with an all-in-one docking station (or his bed, as he’s known in our house) which houses both a clean water tank and a dirty water tank.
Getting started couldn’t be simpler. Fill the clean water tank with fresh water, install the app, press go and let him get on with it.
The robot heads off to mop the floors before returning to the dock where the roller mop is automatically washed. It then heads back out to continue cleaning before vacuuming the floors, returning to the dock whenever it needs to refresh the mop or empty its dust.
When the cleaning cycle is finished, the dock dries the mop using hot air so it’s ready for the next outing.
No, it isn’t completely maintenance-free, but I wouldn’t expect it to be.
You’ll still need to top up the clean water tank, empty the dirty water tank every so often and give the dock a quick wipe over occasionally to keep everything clean and running efficiently. Considering what it does, I think that’s a very small price to pay.
The technology inside the robot is impressive too. Does It Actually Do a Good Job?
In a word…
Yes.
I’ll admit, I had my doubts.
We’ve all bought products that promise to do two jobs and end up doing neither particularly well. Washer-dryers are probably the best example. They sound brilliant in theory but often end up being a compromise.
I wondered whether a robot that both vacuumed and mopped would suffer the same fate.
Thankfully, it doesn’t.
This little chap is incredibly efficient and leaves my hard floors looking genuinely clean and well cared for.
As I’m writing this review, he’s currently making his way around the downstairs after what can only be described as a proper family day yesterday. The kids and grandkids were over for lunch, the French doors were open all afternoon, people were constantly wandering between the house and the garden, little fingers seemed to leave crumbs everywhere, wine glasses left their inevitable rings, and Ellie happily spent the day distributing yet more dog hair around the house.
By this morning the floors had definitely lost that freshly cleaned look. There was a light layer of dust, scattered crumbs and all the usual signs of a house that had been thoroughly enjoyed.
An hour later everything looked transformed.
The dust had gone.
The crumbs had disappeared.
The dog hair had vanished.
The floors looked clean again without me having to lift a finger.
Has It Changed My Cleaning Routine?
Without question.
This machine has been nothing short of a revelation.
It has genuinely cut the amount of time I spend cleaning my floors by at least half.
Think your floors don’t need cleaning every day?
Think again.
This robot goes out every single day and I’m still horrified every time I empty the dirty water tank. The colour of the water after cleaning what I thought were relatively clean floors is, frankly, disgusting.
It’s one of those products that makes you realise your floors weren’t anywhere near as clean as you thought they were.
I honestly can’t imagine living in this house without a robot floor cleaner now. With this much hard flooring downstairs, it has become as essential to me as my dishwasher.
I do have a large rug in the lounge, which the Eufy moves onto and vacuums without any problems at all. So far though, I’ve deliberately kept the robot downstairs because that’s where the vast majority of my cleaning needs are.
Upstairs we have much thicker carpets and, as I haven’t tested the Omni C28 on them myself, I don’t think it would be fair to comment on its performance. According to Eufy, the C28 is designed to clean hard floors, rugs and carpets, automatically adapting between different floor types. The company also advises that very deep-pile carpets (over 26mm) may not be suitable and recommends setting these as no-go zones within the app if required.
For my home, however, this simply isn’t an issue. The robot was bought to tackle the huge expanse of hard flooring downstairs, where it has genuinely transformed my cleaning routine.
My house isn’t completely level either. There are a couple of split levels with small steps between rooms, so obviously it can’t climb them. I simply pick him up, pop him into the next area and within seconds he’s worked out exactly where he is before carrying on as though nothing has happened.
One thing I particularly appreciate is just how easy it is to live with.
Yes, it creates a map of your home, but you don’t have to spend hours programming complicated routines if you don’t want to. For me, it’s very much a case of filling the clean water tank, pressing go and letting him get on with it.
That’s probably why I love it so much.
It doesn’t just clean my floors.
It removes one of those never-ending household jobs that’s always waiting for you.
Is It Worth £649?
At £649, the Eufy Omni C28 represents a considered purchase rather than an impulse buy.
However, when you consider what you’re getting, I actually think it offers very good value. A quality vacuum cleaner, a decent mopping system, cleaning products and, perhaps most importantly, the hours spent keeping hard floors looking their best all add up over time.
If you have a home with a large amount of hard flooring like I do, I genuinely think it’s a worthwhile investment.
If this one disappeared tomorrow, I’d order another robot floor cleaner without hesitation.
I genuinely can’t imagine going back to vacuuming and mopping my floors by hand every day.
For me, that’s probably the biggest compliment I can give the Eufy Omni C28.
