There’s something truly glorious about al fresco dining in the British summer. Perhaps it’s because it’s never guaranteed and also a somewhat rare occasion but you can feel the collective spirit being lifted when the sun is out and we can look forward to eating outside.
The Beaverbrook Hotel and Estate, set deep in the countryside of the Surrey Hills is offering a truly special way to do that this summer – in their stylish static hot air balloons. The six balloons surround the pond in the beautiful Italian Garden overlooking the stylish country house estates and the verdant, rolling views of the Surrey countryside.
Love is in the air this year with Beaverbrook partnering with luxury table dressers Summerhill and Bishop. The stunning balloons are designed with delicate embroidery featuring their signature heart motif the Queen of Hearts. Matching cushions, coasters, table mats, napkins and crockery complete the picture for a fabulous Summer of Love in a heavenly setting.
The Japanese-inspired menu is curated by Beaverbrook’s Executive Development Chef Majciech Popow and a selection of uniquely delicious dishes are delivered to the table. Starting with a traditional sandangasane box wrapped in a love heart napkin. The indulgent gift includes dry-aged beef tartar, Antonius Oscietra caviar, vibrant nasturtiums and the crispiest of rice crackers to pile everything on. Absolutely delicious. The next course is just as much of a treat with delicate lobster carpaccio served in a light and zesty yuzu dressing with sea vegetables. Totally mouthwatering.
But the highlight of this spectacular meal experience is the Yakiniku grill. A luxurious plate of Kobe beef, AS Wagu, Iberico pork, dry-aged O-Toro tuna, Japanese red bream with a selection of vegetables is served for individual cooking on the mini grill. A real ceremony with tasty dips on the side and a bowl of sticky rice topped with an umami-packed bonita flakes and an egg yolk to mix in.
Dessert comes on a striking heart-shaped plate. A delectable rose mousse made with raspberry and calamansi and there’s also a range of gelato available from the gelato cart in the garden. What better way to finish off a summer lunch in the English countryside?
The Love is in the Air experience is £245 a person.
Beaverbrook is at Reigate Road, Leatherhead, Surrey.
